Conquest Racing: Indy 500, Week Two, Wednesday Practice Report

The day started out under rainy conditions and ended in the same way, but in between Conquest Racing was able to get in a little over 30 minutes of green flag practice today with Enrique Bernoldi registering the eighth quickest time of the day.

Both drivers completed 17 laps each today in the rain shortened practice session. Bernoldi registered a top speed of 220.105 mph while Camara reached 218.406 mph.

Track time is at a premium for the Conquest Team who had limited track time last week due to the rain canceling two and a half practice sessions. Rain also hampered Conquest’s chances of qualifying on the second day of qualifying which means the team will have to qualify this weekend during the third day of qualifying with positions 12 to 33 up for grabs.

Practice resumes tomorrow at noon… weather permitting.

CONQUEST QUOTE BOARD

Jaime Camara (#34 Sangari Dallara/Honda/Firestone)

"It was good to finally be back on track. I was back in the 34 car, after driving the 36T car last week, and it’s still there. Our set up today was a race set up, we were trying to see where we are. Tomorrow if we have track time we will focus on qualifying but I think we’re good.

It was just 35 minutes but I am happy with the car. We were going to improve but the rain came back so we couldn’t do anything. As soon as we have track time we are going to be there, adjust some things and we’re going to be good."

Enrique Bernoldi (#36 Sangari Dallara/Honda/Firestone)

"It was good because it had been three days that I wasn’t in the car. It’s always good to get mileage and you always learn on a track like this one. Today went well. It was good preparation in case we have a day like this on Saturday for qualifying.

You have to be ready to go out there no matter what time the session starts and you also have to be able to get the best out of the car in any condition. Now we will keep our fingers crossed that we can have more track time tomorrow and Friday before qualifying this weekend."
