Mugello awards Racing Team Edil Cris a double leadership in the Italian GT

Racing Team Edil Cris strengthens the leadership in the classification of the Italian GT Championship with the results scored at Mugello.

The first session of qualifying, yesterday, saw Balzan obtaining the fourth time (1´53.280), while Linossi concluded only thirteenth (1´55.335). At the wheel of the Ferrari 360, Margelli got the twenty-first place (1´58.159). In the second session, third time for Mediani (1´53.165), eleventh for Mugelli (1´54.821) and sixteenth for Solieri (1´57.761).

In the first of the two races, held this morning, podium for Mugelli/Balzan, third under the chequered flag (+3.150). Sixth position for Linossi/Mediani (+29.023) and fourteenth for Solieri/Margelli (+1 lap).

The second race brought a fifth place to Mugelli/Balzan, followed by Linossi/Mediani. Retirement due to technical problems for Solieri/Margelli instead.

With these results, the championship´s classification sees two Edil Cris´ crews (Linossi/Mediani and Mugelli/Balzan) sharing the lead with 31 points.

Giancristiano Cavalleri (Team principal):

"We considered this round at Mugello as one of the most critical for us, therefore I am certainly satisfied by the weekend, especially in the light of our opponents´ results. We missed the victory, that´s right, but we come back with two crews on top of the classification".

Max Mugelli:

"The constancy of results is one of the fundamental elements in the title fight, for this reason I think getting points in both races is very positive. The setup of the car was good, but not optimized as in the case of those drivers that had some tests on this track in the past weeks. This is one reason more to be happy of our result".

Luciano Linossi:

"I struggled to get a good feeling with the car. I suffered for long a lot of oversteering, that prevented me from pushing to the maximum. We keep the head of the classification anyway, a very positive thing while we wait for the first victory of the season".

Glauco Solieri:

"Despite the great commitment of the team, our Ferrari 360 has possibly come to the end of its development. For this reason, by mutual consent with my team mate Walter Margelli and the team Principal Giancristiano Cavalleri, we decided not to take part to the rounds of Magione and Valencia. We will be back on track again at Mugello on the 20th of July behind the wheel of a Ferrari F430".

The next round of the championship is scheduled for the 8th of June at Magione.
