BMW Sauber F1 Team - Großer Preis von Japan - Training, Freitag

Wetter: trocken und sonnig, 25-26°C Luft, 41-47°C Asphalt.

Das malerische Umland der japanischen Alpen und die Rennstrecke am Fuße des Mount Fuji begeistern die Formel 1 bei ihrer Rückkehr nach 30 Jahren. Weniger spektakulär verliefen die ersten beiden freien Trainings für das BMW Sauber F1 Team: Robert Kubica belegte die Plätze sechs und zehn, Nick Heidfeld wurde 13. und 15.

Robert Kubica:

BMW Sauber F1.07-03 / BMW P86/7 (T-Car F1.07-04)

1. Training: 6., 1.20,297 min / 2. Training: 10., 1.20,069 min

"Fuji ist eine schöne Rennstrecke. Ich genieße es, hier zu fahren, obwohl die blinden Kurven auch ihre Tücken haben. Bei vier oder fünf Kurven kann man den Scheitelpunkt nicht einsehen.

Außerdem muss man hier häufig bremsen und beschleunigen. Heute Nachmittag sind wir einige Longruns gefahren. Jetzt müssen wir noch ein paar Dinge an der Abstimmung gerade rücken, und dann sind wir aufgestellt."

 

Nick Heidfeld:

BMW Sauber F1.07-08 / BMW P86/7

1. Training: 13., 1.20,728 min / 2. Training: 15., 1.20,462 min

"Die Strecke macht Spaß, sie ist viel schöner, breiter und flüssiger, als ich mir anhand der Skizzen vorgestellt habe. Es gibt viele Steigungen und Gefälle und einige Kurven, bei denen man den Scheitelpunkt nicht sehen kann, zumal wir ja extrem tief in den Autos sitzen.

In der ersten Session hat mir das Set-up noch überhaupt nicht gefallen, das Heck war sehr nervös. Im zweiten Training war es zwar besser, aber die Balance war noch immer nicht gut. Wegen eines Problems mit dem siebten Gang musste ich eine Viertelstunde früher aufhören als geplant."

 

Willy Rampf (Technischer Direktor):

"Es ist anspruchsvoll, auf eine Rennstrecke zu kommen, die man nur aus der Simulation kennt. Wir haben die Abstimmung, mit der wir begonnen haben, noch geringfügig angepasst. Wir haben uns heute auf die Rennabstimmung konzentriert.

Unsere Trockenübungen zuhause waren erfolgreich: Die erzielte Rundenzeit und der Topspeed wichen nur um ca. ein Prozent von den vorausberechneten Werten ab."
