Comme on a encore pu s'en rendre compte récemment sur le front du rallye, avec la création de l'ASAF Euro Team permettant à des équipages francophones belges de découvrir de nouveaux horizons, l'Association Sportive Automobile Francophone poursuit ses opérations de détection et de promotion des jeunes talents. Et quoi de plus normal que d'aller puiser dans le vivier du karting pour donner un coup de pouce aux jeunes loups les plus prometteurs.
C'est ainsi que deux nouveaux Volants vont être mis sur pied, afin de permettre aux lauréats de vivre de nouvelles expériences, en championnat de Belgique de karting pour le premier, et en... Formula Ford Benelux pour le second !
Le premier de ces Volants concerne les pilotes entre 12 et 13 ans, qui évoluent actuellement dans les classes KF, CRG Open, Boxer Cup et Kart Fun de la compétition de karting ASAF, en plus de la catégorie Cadets, bien sûr. Au cours des trois derniers rendez-vous de la saison, les 4 meilleurs résultats de ces jeunes loups entre 12 et 13 ans seront comptabilisés, et le premier de chacune des catégories citées (les trois premiers en Cadets) sera convié le 25 octobre prochain sur la piste d'Amay, pour une confrontation équitable, avec matériel et poids identiques.
A l'issue de ce Volant, le lauréat sera invité à participer à une manche du championnat de Belgique KF3 de karting. L'opération est absolument gratuite pour les participants, seul le lauréat devant s'acquitter d'une licence nationale pour pouvoir honorer son prix et prendre part à ce rendez-vous du championnat de Belgique en KF3.
En collaboration avec le John's Racing Team
Le second Volant mis sur pied par le Groupe de Travail Karting de l'ASAF concerne les pilotes entre 15 et 25 ans issus de toutes catégories et tous challenges karting de la Communauté française. Il s'agira pour ces pilotes d'engranger le plus grand nombre de points dans leur catégorie de prédilection, lors des rendez-vous de Francorchamps (24 août), Lommerange (28 septembre) et Genk (5 octobre). Ici aussi, seuls les 4 meilleurs résultats seront retenus (deux pour la classe EERP).
Le meilleur de chaque catégorie à l'issue de ces épreuves sera convié dans la seconde partie du mois de novembre à un test au volant d'une Formula Ford Van Diemen 1800cc du John's Racing Team, sur le circuit de Francorchamps ! Pour cette grande première sur le plus beau circuit du monde, et sous la houlette de l'équipe assurant l'importation des Van Diemen pour le Benelux et la France, ce ne seront pas les chronos qui seront pris en compte, mais bien les datas qui seront analysées, afin de récompenser le pilote le plus complet.
Le lauréat de ce test en Formula Ford, qui constitue déjà une sacrée récompense en soi, sera invité par le John's Racing Team à participer à une manche du championnat Benelux de Formula Ford au sein de la structure de John Svensson Jr.
