Bericht 6. Lauf Le Mans Series in Interlagos / BR (08. - 10. November 2007)
Nach einer starken Leistung und Pole Position gab es leider keine Zielankunft für Pierre Ehret beim Saisonfinale der Le Mans Series in Interlagos. Mit einem Getriebeschaden, der zu einem Riss im Getriebegehäuse führte, musste das Team Farnbacher Racing das Langstreckenrennen nach knapp fünf Stunden beenden.
Das Freie Training auf dem 4309 Kilometer lange Kurs „Autódromo José Carlos Pace" ca. 12 Kilometer vom Zentrum entfernt, verlief zu Beginn hervorragend. Mit Platz 1 und 3 bei den ersten gezeiteten Sessions zeigte das Trio Pierre Ehret, Dirk Werner und Lars-Erik Nielsen, dass man in der GT2-Klasse ganz vorne mithalten kann. Da konnte man es sich auch erlauben beim 3. Freien Training einige Dinge auszuprobieren und den 9. Platz zu holen.
Beim Zeittraining war Dirk Werner dann sehr schnell mit dem "Flamingo Resort Hotel"-Porsche 997 GT3 RS unterwegs und holte sich mit einer Zeit von 1:33.017 Minuten die Pole Position für das Rennen über 1.000 Meilen (1.609 km).
Zum Start ging als erster Pilot der Däne Lars-Erik Nielsen auf die Strecke. Doch schon nach 30 Minuten gab es das erste technische Problem. „Lars berichtete, dass der Cutter nicht mehr ging", so Pierre Ehret, „normalerweise kann man auf dem Gas bleiben und ohne Probleme in die nächsten Gänge schalten. Das ging nun nicht mehr und man musste vom Gas gehen, damit der nächst höhere Gang einsprang…!"
Doch nach und nach klappte es mit dem Gas wegnehmen auch nicht mehr und die Piloten mussten die Kupplung benutzen, um hoch zu schalten. Ein Vorgang, der große Konzentration erfordert und dazu auch noch Zeit kostete. „Man wusste nie, klappt es oder klappt es nicht und war sehr anstrengend!"
Und nach ca. der Hälfte der Renndistanz dann das Ende. Beim runterschalten in der 5. Stunde gab es einen großen Knall und man verlor viel Öl. Das Auto kam noch an die Box, doch dort holten die Mechaniker das Getriebe aus dem Porsche und stellen fest, dass das Getriebegehäuse gebrochen war! Porsche muss jetzt untersuchen wie das passieren konnte, da alle Gänge vor dem Rennen neu installiert wurden!
"Natürlich ist es sehr schade, dass man so aus dem Rennen fällt", erklärte Pierre Ehret später, „wir hätten heute gute Chancen auf das Podest gehabt. Und das wäre ein schöner Abschluß der Saison gewesen. Die Rennstrecke finde ich sehr gut. Sie ist anstrengend aber toll. Gerne würde ich hier nochmals starten."
Larbre Competition returned from the final round of the Le Mans Series season finale in Brazil with a hugely satisfying GT1 class win at the 1000-mile Mil Milhas race at Interlagos.
