The Spanish automotive brand, SEAT, will become the Official Global Partner of the Red Bull Air Race, starting with the race in Istanbul on June 2nd. The Red Bull Air Race is an exciting competition in which the world’s most talented pilots are up against each other in a race based on speed, precision and skill. SEAT and Red Bull Air Race have signed a 3-year partnership contract.
"We are delighted to announce the cooperation with Red Bull Air Race for the coming three years", comments Erich Schmitt, President of SEAT. "This agreement will further enrich our brand image, following our successful cooperation with Shakira during the first part of 2007."
This new sponsoring agreement is aimed at enhancing the brand image of SEAT, following a long-term global sponsoring strategy. The SEAT brand values are Design-driven, Sporty and Lively and matches well the previous and on-going sponsorship agreements such as the Shakira European Tour and the World Touring Car Championship.
Apart from creating more brand awareness for SEAT, the events will provide a communication platform for SEAT importers and dealers at the 5 locations decided for 2007 – Istanbul/Turkey, Interlaken/Switzerland, London/UK, Porto/Portugal and Acapulco/Mexico.
The Red Bull Air Races have become huge spectator events wherever they have been held. Last year’s 8 events gathered 6 million spectators watching the event on location. The biggest crowd so far was in Istanbul in 2006 where 1.5 million spectators watched the race. The expectations for the 2007 World Series are much higher since it now includes 11 races.
SEAT will have a comprehensive presence at the different events. The SEAT brand will be seen on the planes, all-over the venue and on the 70 cars that will be used by the pilots and the organization.
The most eye-catching icon will be a special SEAT León Cupra "follow-me car" that will lead the planes in and out on the airstrip. This car will be the hero in a through-the-line advertising campaign that will be launched during the summer.
