HANNOVER MESSE 2009, 20 to 24 April

    * Spotlight focuses on Partner Country's solution-driven technology and advanced industrial capacity

Korea has opened the doors to its huge pavilion of corporate booths and cultural displays at this year's HANNOVER MESSE. A total of 210 Korean companies will take part to demonstrate Korea's forward-thinking technology and capacity to put that to work for its partners, with efficient business solutions in plant industrial automation, power transmission engineering, robotics, nano technology and electronics.

Of particular interest to business leaders will be the country's highly acclaimed reverse osmosis desalinization plant technology and its premier shipbuilding sector. Displays will also include the world's fastest wireless broadband platform (WiBro) and the engineering capability that is currently powering the construction of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Dubai.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy, in concert with the Korea Association of Machinery Industry (KOAMI), organized this year's participation under the slogan, "MAKE IT WORK," symbolizing the country's drive to innovate and utilize new technological development in the machinery industry. It is such a commitment to excellence that powers future growth engines and economic success. In "MAKE IT WORK," the "IT" refers to the country's unparalleled ability to utilize advanced technology across diverse and highly integrated industrial platforms in information technology, integrated technology and innovation technology.

As Partner Country this year, Korea is sending its largest ever contingent of Korean corporations and cultural exhibits to travel to an international trade fair. Covering 7,000m2 of space, the Korean Pavilion will present technologies of the future while welcoming interested partners to explore business opportunities for new partnerships that can help them gain a strong foothold in the vital northeast Asian region.

"We've brought our strongest corporate partners," said Jae-hoon Chung, Director General of Korea's Ministry of Knowledge Economy. "We will show our global leadership in key industries like machinery, automotive, and shipbuilding, as well as our strong efforts to build a range of high value-added, green growth business in clean power generation and renewable energy, putting our highly efficient solar modules and fuel cell technologies on display."

Korea aims for a boost in relations with Germany and the EU through this event. "We fully expect the HANNOVER MESSE to strengthen cooperation in technology and lay a strong foundation for a brighter and more prosperous future of the machinery industries in Europe and around Asia," said Jae-hoon Chung.

There will be a variety of business meetings hosted by Korea, including the Korea-German Business Summit on April 20th, which will focus on economic cooperation between the two countries. At the Business Opportunities in Korea Forum 2009 on April 21st, participants will be able to witness the attractive investment opportunities and incentives that Korea has to offer.

Additionally, the Korea Pavilion will hold many exhibits that highlight the country's rich cultural heritage. At one of the Korea Pavilion's main booths, visitors can experience hanji-paper, an ancient and highly detailed method for creating translucent paper used in ink painting and crafts. Also featured will be creative performances by robots, in a sign of how Koreans fuse high technology into their daily lives.

As Partner Country, Korea will coordinate performances for the Opening Ceremony and "Korean Night." Performances will be given by the country's renowned National Dance Company, along with a highly energetic demonstration of the famous Korean martial arts, Taekwondo.
