HANNOVER MESSE Worldwide Events Industrial Trade Fair Moscow

08.06.2009: * Deutsche Messe to stage four new industrial trade fairs in Moscow in September 2010

    * Deutsche Messe to stage four new industrial trade fairs in Moscow in September 2010

Deutsche Messe Hannover is to launch four new industrial tradeshows in Moscow in fall 2010 as part of its ongoing international expansion program. The tradeshows - MDA RUSSIA, Industrial Automation RUSSIA, Surface RUSSIA, and CeMAT RUSSIA - will go under the parent brand "Industrial Trade Fair Moscow" and will run from 28 September to 1 October 2010.

The four shows will profile technology solutions from the fields of power transmission/fluid power, industrial automation, surface technology and intralogistics. They will be held at the All-Russian Exhibition Center, one of Moscow's top three trade fair venues. Deutsche Messe's cooperation partner for this new venture is the ITE Group Plc, a UK-based trade fair company with offices in 11 countries. Every year, the ITE Group stages 50 exhibitions and conferences in Russia alone.

"Despite the current global economic crisis and poor growth outlook, Russia is and will remain a key market for the global export sector. Our four new industrial tradeshows cover all the themes of core importance for the modernization of Russia's industrial sector. We are confident that a recovery is just around the corner and that the Russian market will once again be in expansion mode. We have therefore made a carefully considered decision to invest now in what is a growth region of pivotal importance to Europe generally and Germany in particular," explains Deutsche Messe Board member Dr. Andreas Gruchow.

Forecasts of Russia's economic growth vary between -0.5 and 3 percent. Russia's economic development ministry anticipates that the country's GDP will shrink by 0.5 percent if oil prices settle at the 50 US dollar mark. However, once the global economy picks up again, so too will oil prices - and with them Russia's economic growth. Russia remains fully committed to its program of industrial, public sector and infrastructure modernization. Its imports for the period from January to September 2008 grew to 218.5 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 42 percent. More than half of these imports related to machinery, equipment and transport infrastructure - capital goods valued at 106.9 billion US dollars.

Russia's industrial output for the period from January to October 2008 grew five percent year on year. Russia has a long and proud history in the machine-building and mechanical engineering sector. In 2007, the country produced plant and machinery valued at 772 billion rubles (about 22 billion euros), up more than 19 percent on 2006. The bulk of this output related to turbines and generators, construction machinery and tractors.

The Russian Federation's need for modernization is colossal, a fact that puts industrial plant and machinery among its top imports. Foreign plant and machinery manufacturers are benefiting from this enormously. For instance, in the first half of 2008, Germany supplied just on 4 billion Euros worth of capital equipment to Russia.
