Eurosport erweitert erneut sein Programmportfolio und nimmt die olympische Sportart Ringen ins Programm. Der TV-Sender und der internationale Ringer-Verband United World Wrestling (UWW) haben eine dreijährige Partnerschaft geschlossen, die es Eurosport ermöglicht europaweit sowie im Raum Asien-Pazifik bis 2020 von den internationalen Top-Events der Ringer-Elite zu berichten – sowohl auf den TV-Sendern als auch online und im Eurosport Player.



Zu den Highlights zählen insbesondere die Welt- und Europameisterschaften, auf die sich die Sportfans in den nächsten Jahren freuen können. Eurosport startet seine Berichterstattung im Oktober mit Highlight-Sendungen von der Ringer-WM in Budapest.




Zudem zeigt Eurosport Highlights der 2019 stattfindenden Weltmeisterschaft und der Europameisterschaft aus dem rumänischen Bukarest. Auf dem Weg nach Tokio sind bei Eurosport im Jahr 2020 weitere Weltklasse-Events, bei denen sich die Ringerelite auf die Olympischen Spiele vorbereitet, zu sehen.




Dank der neuen Partnerschaft mit der UWW berichtet Eurosport als Home of the Olympics* in Europa auf seinen diversen Plattformen nun von 26 der 33 Sportarten, bei denen in Tokio 2020 Medaillen vergeben werden – sowohl auf den linearen TV-Kanälen, online auf eurosport.de, in der Eurosport App als auch im Eurosport Player.




Laurent Prud’homme, Eurosport SVP Rights Acquisitions and Syndication, sagt: „Wir wollen, dass Sportarten wie Ringen nicht nur bei Olympischen Spielen im Fokus sind, sondern herausstellen, dass sie mehr Faszination bieten. So verstärkt die Kooperation mit der UWW unsere Ambition, tiefergehende Einblicke in Sportarten zu bieten und ganzjährig die Olympiahelden sowie die zukünftigen Olympioniken zu begleiten.



„Mit der Partnerschaft ist es den Fans aus ganz Europa und dem Asia-Pazifik-Raum ab sofort möglich ihren Helden auf dem Weg nach Tokio 2020 zu folgen. Darüber hinaus besitzen wir die Möglichkeit eine Brücke zu Zuschauern zu schlagen, denen das Ringen noch nicht sonderlich bekannt ist, um erstes Know-how zu vermitteln.”




Nenad Lalovic, Präsident of der United World Wrestling, sagt: „Wir freuen uns, dass wir die Zusammenarbeit mit Eurosport fortführen können, verbunden mit der Möglichkeit unseren Sport in ganz Europa noch besser darstellen zu können.




 Den Grundstein für eine stärkere Wahrnehmung haben wir bereits im letzten Jahr mit der Partnerschaft bei den Weltmeisterschaften in Paris gelegt. Daran wollen wir anknüpfen und die großen Ringer- Wettkämpfe auf dem Weg zu den Olympischen Spielen in Tokio 2020 noch stärker in den Fokus rücken.”




Um die Aufmerksamkeit von Ringen weiter zu stärken plant Eurosport für die gesamte Laufzeit der Partnerschaft eine Serie von TV- und digitalen Kampagnen.



Als Sportart bei den Olympischen Spielen genießt das Ringen eine lange Tradition. Erstmals war Ringen 1896 olympisch und fand – mit Außnahme von 1900 – auch bei allen Olympischen Spielen statt.
