Double podium for Milo Racing debut in the Ligier European Series on the Circuit Paul Ricard

The new Ligier European Series, which brings together JS P4 and the more conventional JS2R prototypes, finally got off to a flying start at the Circuit Paul Ricard this weekend, as part of the prestigious European Le Mans Series weekend. As announced, the Belgian Milo Racing team was there with its latest acquisition, a spectacular carbon coloured JS P4, which was shared between team manager Christophe Nivarlet and Kevin Balthazar.

In fact, the decision to take part in the start of the Ligier European Series was made only twelve days ago," commented Eric Gressens, who is in charge of the day-to-day management of Milo Racing. This has of course turned this participation into a real race against time, at all levels! »

Just to make things worse, Kevin Balthazar was the victim of an unusual accident in the paddocks of the Circuit Paul Ricard. While moving around on a scooter, he was indeed... knocked down by a LM P3 proto! Medical verdict: severed toe tendon, operation on Thursday evening, and leaving hospital with a cast... removable! Translate: the young driver still took the wheel of the Ligier JS P4 during the weekend, and his up to the end was largely rewarded.

Apart from the incident with Kevin, we had a weekend of contrasts", Christophe Nivarlet continued. The car in fact suffered repeated power cuts which immobilised it or prevented it from starting. That's why we didn't have any lap times at all in Qualifying 1".

During the two races of 60 minutes plus one lap, the Belgian team was nevertheless going to shine, finishing the first exercise in 2nd position of the general classification, in front of the major part of the other JS P4, while on Sunday, it is an absolute 3rd rank which fell in the escarcelle of Milo Racing.

"As we look back over the weekend, we can say that nothing was simple... but that these two podiums are very promising results after so many complicated episodes, concludes Eric Gressens. The second meeting of the Ligier European Series will take place on the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on the weekend of August 7 and 8. This means that Milo Racing will be running at home... with the firm intention of gaining another one or two small places in the overall standings. »
