Impreza No. 5 Petter Solberg: "Today has been pretty good for us again and we are in a good position. The roads are very slippery today and there was a bit of ice in the first stage. It’s easy to make a mistake so we didn’t take any unnecessary risks.
The stages are very tricky today as they’re narrow and very fast. We’ve had some good split times this morning, but I wasn’t comfortable with the grip in the last stage [SS11] so we will make some changes for the afternoon."
Impreza No. 6 Chris Atkinson: "For sure it’s good to be in third, but today showed how unpredictable this event can be. We’ve had good pace this morning, although I could have pushed a little harder in places, but there’s still a long way to go and a lot of stages left.
Duval will be fast this afternoon so we must keep pushing to stay ahead. It won’t be easy but we’ve been in front of him all rally so far. We’ll make some changes to the car during service as I was lacking some grip in the last stage, and we’ll try to increase the gap again this afternoon."

Latvala out of Monte day three

Ford’s Jari-Matti Latvala has retired from the third day of Rallye Monte Carlo after his car’s suspension was damaged on SS12.
The Finn stopped near the middle of 19km stage to change what he thought was a broken front-left wheel. But it turned out that the front-left track control arm of his Ford Focus RS WRC was broken, meaning he could go no further.

Khalid al Qassimi of the BP-Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team has retired from day two of the rally after an accident on SS6.
Al Qassimi’s Ford Focus slid wide on the last right-hand corner of the 29km test and hit a bank. Both Al Qassimi and his co-driver Michael Orr were uninjured but their car sustained suspension damage and couldn’t be driven any further.

Pirelli’s control tyre has emerged from its first major test with flying colours on this morning’s loop of three dry Monte Carlo stages.
Running in the cooler night time conditions, Thursday evening’s tests were felt unrepresentative of the performance of the PZero, but when the cars arrived back in Valence after stage five - the tyres drew universal praise.
