OREHOVA VAS (SLOVENIA), 12th July 2008 –
Home rider Klemen Gercar won the Qualifying practice before the ninth event for the EMX2 European Championship in Slovenia. The weather was sunny and almost too hot. The race track was very well prepared. Although the temperatures were very high, there was no dust during the Qualifying practice, because of the good watering.
Klemen Gercar (Yamaha) from Slovenia took the pole position. It was the first time that he was riding the EMX2 European Championship event for the Italian Gariboldi Team. He already won the event in Croatia and now he was the fastest in the Slovenian Qualifying practice. It is the race track, where he has been competing for the many times before. He was satisfied with the pole position, but he knows that it was only the first step of the even.
Gercar said: »The race track is really perfect. The organizer did a good job. I am in the very good form. This weekend and also at the next event in Slovakia, I will compete as a part of Gariboli Team. They prepared my bike for this race and I am satisfied with the settings.«
This season Gercar was not competing in the EMX2 European Championship very often. But when he was there, he did the good result. He explained: »For this year I had different plans. So I decided to participate only at some events, that will be close to Slovenia. For tomorrow I expect a good result. I will do my best to satisfied the team. If I will have also some good fortune, I think at the end I can be very high.«
Loic Larrieu (Kawasaki) did the second fastest time. It was very good result for him, because he was faster than Valentin Teillet (KTM), who did only fifteenth time. In the Championship Classification Larrieu is on the way to catch Teillet, who was not really convincible on the last events.
This result was good sign for Larrieu, that he can do the good result also tomorrow. Arnaud Tonus (KTM) finished third, Cedric Soubeyras (Yamaha) fourth and the winner of the last event, Loic Rombaut (Kawasaki) did the fifth time in today's Qualifying practice.
