EMX2 – The convincible victory for Loic Rombaut

Loic Rombaut (Kawasaki) won the eighth event for the EMX2 European Championship in Netherlands. Young French rider was the fastest also in the yesterday's Qualifying practice and with the victory he just confirmed the good form.

It was again the day of the French riders. At the first start Valentin Teillet (KTM) was the fastest rider of all. It looked like nobody could overtake him. But some last races were not very successful for Teillet. His form is getting better, but this time some other riders were stronger, again. Loic Rombaut and Cedric Soubeyras (Yamaha) came in front and the finished as the first and second.

After the first race, Teillet explained: »After the Spanish and Croatian event, where I did was not successful, I think my form is going up again. Yesterday after the Qualifying practice I was tired. Today my first start was very fast, then I did not continue as I should. I am satisfied with the end of the first race, when I made the fastest lap.« Teillet is still on the top of the Championship Classification, as Loic Larrieu (Kawasaki), who was only six points behind him, did not get any points in the first race.

In the second race Cedric Soubeyras and Christophe Charlier (Yamaha) were the fastes on the start. Rombaut took the lead after some laps and with the good riding he did not let the chance for the victory. He was at the first position till the end. Teillet finally held out the race to the finish. In the second race he did not repeat the fast start from the first race, but he finished third.

Swedish rider Johan Carlsson broke the chain of the best French riders with the second position. The convincible winner of the Netherland's event was Loic Rombaut. Second best was Cedric Soubeyras and the third was Valentin Teillet. The next event for the EMX2 European Championship will be next weekend in Slovenia.

In the EMX-85 European Championship event the victory went to the home rider Jeffrey Herlings (Suzuki). He is one of the strongest riders in this Championship and his rivals have a hard work to overcome him. It was already his fifth victory this season. Herlings said: »I have been working very hard and I am in the very good form at the moment.

Today I did some mistakes, which luckily were not noticeable for my result. I am leading the Championship with the big advantage and it is the most important thing. I am competing also in the German Championship ADAC. I am satisfied with my bike.« Second was also home rider, Donny Bastemeijer (Honda) and third was German rider Dennis Ullrich (KTM).

RIDER'S COMMENTS:

1st – LOIC ROMBAUT: »I am very happy for this victory. This is actually my second podium this year, after the good result in Spain. I was competing here also last year, when I was not successful. I like race tracks like this one. At the next events I hope I will continue with good results. I do not know the race track in Slovenia very much. We will see what will happen.«

2nd – CEDRIC SOUBEYRAS: »Yesterday I did the good result in the Qualifying practice. I found myself very well and I am satisfied with the weekend here in Markelo. I had a better second start as the first. For my first start I can say I was a little dissapointed. This race track is differend from others. Usually I was not competing on the track like this was. In France we have mostly more hard race tracks, that are not sandy. I would like thank to my team. The weekend was difficult for all of us.«

3rd – VALENTIN TEILLET: »It was not a bad weekend for me. I was feeling better that some events before. I would like thank to my team and mechanics for their support, also when I was not riding as I wanted to. It was my first time here in Markelo and I have to say that the race track is not the one that I like. It was hard and dry. I think my form is getting better, again.«
