STEVEN FROSSARD INCREASES HIS LEADERSHIP

Second overall in Thomer la Sogne, third round of the MX2 French Elite championship, Steven Frossard increased his leaderhip in the series while Loic Larrieu had a difficult muddy weekend. In the MX1 class, Gregory Aranda is now third in the standings.
Third weekend in a row with mud for the french series, but it was worst than ever with rain, snow and cold win in Normandy. Winner last week in Romagné, Steven Frossard confirmed his ability in such conditions and just lost the overal classification with a technical problem in the first race. He was leading when his rear brake failed, probably damaged by a stone, and Boissière passed him before the finish line.
He got his revenge in the following race where he was unbeatable, and then missed a good start in the super final mixing the best MX1 and MX2 riders. Coming back from fifteen to fifth he was unable to attack Boissière for the fourth spot, as he took off his goggles at mid race. Loic Larrieu had a difficult weekend; he retired in the first race wen his bike failed, crashed and came back eighth in the next one, and crashed again in the super final that he finished in fourteenth place.
In the MX1 class Gregory Aranda crashed even more times than his team-mates, but never gave up to score 6/5/11 results. He earn one position in the standings, and is now in third position before the followin round in Pernes les Fontaines. At least a sunny weekend?

Steven Frossard : ‘ I like this track, but during the qualifying session I was unable to post a fast lap and I got pumped arms. It was better on Monday, the track was more wet with the rain. I was second behind Musquin in the first race, looked his lines and then passed him as I was faster, but later I had no rear brake and Boissière passed me for the win. In the second heat I started in second position behind Musquin and passed him straight away, then I posted five fast laps to make the gap and I won the race.
My start was worse in the super final, I was fifteen and pushed really hard to come back fifth behind Boissière. I tried to pass him but got mud in my goggles, then without any goggles it was impossible to follow any rider and I finished fifth. I just lost two points over Boissière who is now second in the standings, but I increase my lead and that was a good day for me’

Loic Larrieu : ‘ This week-end was not as good as the previous ones for me. In the first heat I damaged a hose, may be with a stone and three laps before the end my engine failed. I had a good start in the second race but I crashed pretty hard in the first lap; I was out of the points and came back eighth, it was not a bad race. In the super final I was in the top ten after the start, came eight and then crashed.
I had mud everywhere, no more goggles, and finished fourteenth. It was a good training before the European championship, but I hope that the weather will be better in Spain for the opening round in two weeks’

Gregory Aranda : ‘ I dont’ like the mud, and once more it was a muddy race. I tried to do my best but I think that I crashed four times in each race, and after each crash I’m more exited... On Sunday it was not so wet and I finished the timed period in third position behind Pourcel and Aubin who both won GP’s. In the first race I had a bad start and came back sixth, my second heat was better as I finished fifth without any rear brake.
In the super final I had to take off the goggles early, I got mud in my eyes and crashed. I finished eleventh, let’s hope that the weather will be better next week in Pernes’
Jean Jacques Luisetti : ‘ It was another tough weekend for the riders and the mechanics! We’re happy with Steven who confirmed that he is at the moment the strongest MX2 rider, he is now leading the series with a good advantage.
Greg is now third in the MX1 standings, we know that he doesn’t like the mud but he was consistant and that’s important. Loic was unlucky here, when you race in the mud you have sometimes technical troubles due to the mud or stones. He proved with his great second race that he is a strong rider who never give up’
Thierry Chizat Suzzoni : ‘ On Sunday the track was not as damaged as on Monday, and our riders got strong results in the timed practice sessions. Steven did great races and made a show in the second heat, he was so far from the other riders! Loic was unlucky but never gave up, and depsite some pain in his ankle Gregory scored points in the three races. Two weeks prior the opening GP it was another good weekend for our riders, even in these difficult conditions’
