Red Bull KTM's MX1 factory rider, Max Nagl of Germany said on Saturday he hoped for a top eight place in the Irish MX1GP and managed to surpass that by two places.
Nagl said he had not got away cleanly in the first moto. "I was bad out of the gate but I closed the throttle and settled in behind de Dyker and that worked well for me. I wasn't so fast in the race but it was quite okay. I managed to stick with the front riders but I got tired towards the end of the first moto and finished in seventh place."
Nagl had a better start in the second moto and was in the lead but he got caught up in an incident with a couple of riders and had to go wide. "Then I was back at fifteenth place and had to fight my way back. I managed to overtake a lot of riders and to finish sixth for overall sixth place," he said.
KTM rider Jonathan Barragan ,a regular on the MX1 podium in recent races, was not so lucky. In both motos he was caught up in the start scramble, lost a number of positions in the opening attack and had to fight his way back from the rear. Barragan of Spain, who rides the KTM for Team Silver Action finished in tenth place. He is currently fourth in the championship standings.
