MX3, EMX2 and EMX-85 – Last poles for Breugelmans, Larrieu and Herlings

14.09.2008: MX3, EMX2 and EMX-85 – Last poles for Breugelmans, Larrieu and Herlings

Germany is holding the final events for the FIM MX3 World Championship, EMX2 and EMX-85 European Championship this weekend. Finally there were sunny Qualifying Practices after some rainy Saturdays. Sven Breugelmans (KTM), Loic Larrieu (Kawasaki) and Jeffrey Herlings (Suzuki) got the pole positions.

The last Qualifying Practice for the FIM MX3 World Championship of the season 2008 were exciting till the last minutes. Christophe Martin (Husqvarna) was holding the pole position almost during the whole Qualifying Practice. In the second part of Qualifications Finnish rider Antti Pyrhonen (Honda) went back on the track and after some laps he was the new leader.

There were only five minutes before the finish, when Sven Breugelmans (KTM) left the pit line and went back on the track. Five minutes were enough for his fast lap and for the pole position before the final race of the season.

Breugelmans: »At the last events I am riding very well and I am satisfied with my results. Also here in Jauer the weekend has started successful for me. I was at the fourth and fifth position almost till the end of the Qualifying Practice. Five minutes before the end I decided to go back on the track and it I did the fastest lap. I made some mistakes, but I was still fast.

« He also revealed his plans for the race: »I would like to get the World Title already in the first race, if it will be possible. Today my pole position is not so important. The main race will happen tomorrow. For me the most important will be the first heat.

« Pyrhonen was a little bit disappointed, because he lost the pole in last minutes: »I can not wait for the race. I am very satisfied with the bike settings and with my form. Start will be important as usually. First five riders are very fast and close.« Tomorrow he will be in the game for his fourth podium.

With this pole Breugelmans »destroied« the Pyrhonen's birthday, but tomorrow he will have another chance to get the present by himself. Belgian rider Patrick Caps (Kawasaki) was the third fastest rider, Martin did the fourth time and Alvaro Lozano (KTM) fiftth.

In the EMX2 European Championship French riders were predominating also in their last Qualifying Practice. They took first four positions. Cedric Soubeyras (Yamaha) was holding the fastest time for a long time, but Loic Larrieu (Kawasaki) was the fastest of all. European Champion Valentin Teillet (KTM) was third fastest. For tomorrow his wishes are bigger.

Teillet: »In the race I will try to do my best as always. It would be perfect to win also the final event. I will not be satisfied with the third or even worst result. I want to win this event and confirm my European Championship title. My new and the last victory in this Championship would be great.« Christophe Charlier (Yamaha) did fourth best time. Fifth rider was Aleksandr Tonkov (Suzuki) from Russia.

It will be interesting to see, who will take the podium. Riders are close and results are very narrows. The arrears of the sixth fastest rider Loic Rombaut (Kawasaki) was only one second. Start will be one of the most important parts of the race. The race track is very wide and long, with many different jumps. But the winner can be only one and the last battles of this year will be strained.

The new EMX-85 European Champion Jeffrey Herlings was the winner of the Qualifying Practice in the EMX-85 category. The young Suzuki rider from Netherlands was satisfied with his riding. For tomorrow he hopes for another good result, that he could confirm his European Title.

Herlings: »I want to become the winner of the last event. I think if you are the Champion, you must win to proof your first position. We will see how it will be during the race.« This is his third season in the EMX-85 European Championship and also the most successful.

He said: »At the beginning of the season my wish was to win the Championship, I think it is the wish of many riders. But I did not know if I will succeed, I did not expect so good results during all the season.« Today he was the most persuasive winner. His advantage was 4,5 seconds in front of other riders. Second was Dylan Ferrandis (Yamaha) from France, third was Tim Gajser (KTM) from Slovenia.

Second rider of the Championship Classification Donny Bastemeijer (Honda) from Netherlands was fourth, Italian rider David De Bortoli (Honda) made the fifth fastest time.
