Orehova vas will hold the tenth event for FIM MX3 World Championship and ninth event for EMX2 European Championship this weekend.
Orehova vas is the small village on the eastern part of Slovenia, close to the second biggest Slovenian town Maribor. The local club AMD Orehova vas, has a very rich history. It was founded 51 years ago. They had been organize more than hundred international events. Many legendary riders were riding on this race track, from Harry Everts, Joel Robert and many others.
The race track is lying on the two hills and it gives an interesting view to the spectators. Two years ago they renovated it; the race track now is shorter and more wide. Also the paddock now is bigger, so that riders have more comfort during their staying.
The last event for the FIM MX3 World Championship was more than just an interesting. Sven Breugelmans (KTM) won after the two very exciting races and he halved the advantage of Cristian Beggi (Honda) to twelve points. After the nine events and the long leadership of Beggi, everything is still more opened. And already in Orehova vas many things can change. It is the most favourite race track of Breugelmans, who won there last year.
The expectations of Breugelmans are big also this year, specially because he would like to become the leader of the Championship. This weekend he is planning to make two good races. Beggi was competing in Orehova vas in the 2006 and finished top three, what means he also knows this race track. It will be interesting to see what two Husqvarna riders – Christophe Martin and Thomas Allier will do this time, as they were fast at the last events and they do not know much about this race track.
There will be also home rider Saso Kragelj (Yamaha), the seventh best MX3 rider from the last season. He lives only some metres away from the track and at the home event he is always one of the favorites for the top.
In the EMX2 European Championship the last event made the Championship more interesting. It looked like the Championship leader Valentin Teillet (KTM) is coming in the better form, again. As we saw already some times in this season, there are many young riders, who can be close to the top at any time. Teillet hopes to make one more good result and englare the advantage.
With the average results two events ago, he lost almost all the advantage and he did not compete relaxed, as at the beginning of the season. Now he has the safer leadership, again. Arnaud Tonus (KTM) and Loic Rombaut (Kawasaki) have the same number of points in the battle for the third position. For most of the EMX2 riders it will be the first time in Orehova vas. The weather forecast for the weekend is hot and sunny, so riders will have the summer event.
