Sixth place for Steven in MX2, great MX1 entry for Greg in Loket
Loket is one of the track that most of the riders dislike, but for the CLS riders it was a good opportunity to post strong performances in the MX2 class with a sixth place as well as in the MX1 category with a twelfth position. Gregory enjoyed his first MX1 Grand Prix, while Steven was disappointed in MX2 as he expected a podium.
Fast and slippery, without real technical sections, this track requires great starts to collect good results. It was not the case for Steven Frossard, who missed a good start on Saturday and on Sunday! Eleventh after one lap in the opening race, Steven spent a lot of his energy to come back sixth only four seconds from the third rank. His second start was even worst as he wasn’t in the top twenty at the first corner, but he did an amazing first lap to come eighth! Steven took many risks and gave his best to collect a fourth position, missing the podium by three little points.
Many people were surprised on Saturday when Gregory Aranda posted the third lap time during the second MX1 free practice session, but during the entire weekend Greg confirmed that he was in the right class! Twelfth during the timed practice period, Greg came fourteen and then fifteen at each start. Battling with experimented riders, he earned in each race some ranks to finish his first ever MX1 GP in twelfth position.
Steven Frossard: ‘I’m disappointed with this result, as I was expecting at least a podium here where I had a good feeling and posted fast lap times. I wasn’t able to have at least one good start, in the qualifying session where I lost too much time behind Simpson as well as in the races.
My first start was not the worst, but I crashed when I wanted to pass Boissière. Gonçalves took this opportunity to pass me, then I passed him back and in the last lap I passed Tarroux to finish right behind Boissière in sixth place.
I was happy with my riding, but not with my result. The second start was worst, I was around twenty two in the first corner and I took all the risks to come back eighth. I pushed really hard but I already spent some energy during the first heat; I finished fourth of the race and sixth overall, I’m unhappy even if I am now seventh in the standing’
Gregory Aranda: ‘For sure it was a good weekend for me, I did strong practice sessions on Saturday with a third place in the free practice and then a twelfth in the timed practice period.
In both races I started in the first pack, but then I had to battle hard as these experimented guys didn’t do any present on the track! I kept a good rhythm in both heats, I like this track and I got more experience so I’m happy with this first MX1 GP’
Jean Jacques Luisetti: ‘I’m very happy with the results, and despite average starts Steven proved that a top five result is always possible for him. He is an exceptional rider, who have the ability to do incredible opening laps to recover many positions and I’m sure that he is able to win a heat before the end of the season.
He is now seventh in the standings, and I hope that he will be selected in the French team for the upcoming Motocross of Nations. Greg proved that it was the right choice to move in the MX1 class, he’s only eighteen but he confirmed during the practice sessions and the races how strong he is on a 450.
Both Steven and Greg will defend a podium result next week during the final round of the French Elite Championship in Gaillac Toulza, for the team it would be another dream to see both on the podium’
