OREHOVA VAS (SLOVENIA), 12th July 2008
The tenth event for the FIM MX3 World Championship is taking place in Orehova vas, Slovenia this weekend. It seems that it will be one of the hottest events till now. The air temperature was more than 30 degrees and riders did not have an easy work in the Qualifying practice.
Italian MX1 GP rider Alex Salvini (Suzuki) won the Qualifying practice. He decided to come to Slovenia because he will not go to compete at the MX1 GP event in the Republic of South Africa.
Salvini said: »Today everything was good for me. I had the right settings of the bike. I was fast in the free practice and I knew that the settings are good for this race track. It is the very good ground. I like the race track, even if it is difficult. Allier, Caps and Martin were very fast today. I am happy for my result.« After the injury he was not competing for almost seven weeks. As he explained, this race will be very good opportunity for the recovering and some more practice.
The second fastest rider was Belgian Patrick Caps (Kawasaki) and the third was Christophe Martin (Husqvarna). Home Slovenian rider Saso Kragelj (Yamaha) finished on the sixth position. As he is the home rider and he was on the podium two events ago, everybody is expecting his good result tomorrow. He had also a birthday today and after the Qualifying practice the organizer surprised him with the cake.
Cristian Beggi (Honda) and Sven Breugelmans (KTM) finished seventh and eleventh. It is one of the favourite race tracks for Breugelman, who won here last year. »At the beginning of the Qualifying practice there was the water on the race track because of the watering.
I started with the Qualifications after 15 minutes and unfortunately I crashed while I was trying to make one fast lap. Four minutes before the end I was only on the 44th position. After I had a time only for one more try, when I finished eleventh,« said Breugelmans, who was not satisfied with his result. But it does not mean actually nothing for the race, as there are many good positions on the starting gate.
Sunday's timetable:
10.30-10.35: Start practice group 1; 10.40-10.45: Start practice group 2; 10.45-11.05: Warm up;
13.30: First race
