Matt Kenseth finishes fourth at Michigan

MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (finished 4th) – "I hit the wall a little bit early, chasing Kurt around, and he got sideways up there and I kind of lost track of where I was at and bumped the fender in.

They’re just so aero-sensitive that we could never quite get that fixed and get that back. But, overall, we had a good car all day and I made that mistake and took us out of a chance to win."

WHAT CHANGES DID YOU MAKE THAT MADE THE CAR SO GOOD? "We just made some small changes, and we finally had it right right before I hit the wall and it kind of went downhill from there."

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 AAA Insurance Ford Fusion (finished 18th) – "It’s been a few races since we’ve been the best rookie. So, that’s a good day today. I feel like we lost a little bit those last two re-starts. It took our car a few laps to get rolling. Our car was really, really fast all day, but we just off a little bit there at the end.

Like I said, I feel like we lost three or four spots that we shouldn’t have. But, all in all, an excellent day for the AAA Ford, and a top-20 gets some more points and a good way to head into Bristol."

WAS THE CAR LOOSE? "We were loose when we were fast, but when we got just a little bit tight, it was really tight. The race track was perfect today – not real hot. The racing was good. I’m glad to get it over with and go home."

ON KEEPING THE CAR OUT OF SOME OF THE LATE-LAP INCIDENTS. "This car will probably go to California. We’re trying to use our current cars as much as we can now, because, obviously, next year they won’t be any good to us. The race was just a little crazy there at the end.

Everybody was driving hard, trying to get the last few spots, and just trying to get this thing finished so they can get back home. We’ve all had a long, boring weekend and we were ready to get it in. I’m sure the excitement at Bristol will far make up for it."

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (finished 19th) – "The car was just too loose – too much spring in the back, or something. I got my car just way too loose, mechanical chassis-wise, and we weren’t just able to recover all day.

It was unfortunate. We just could never get it back. It was too loose – that’s what it all boils down to."

RICKY RUDD – No. 88 Snickers Ford Fusion (finished 33rd)

BEFORE THE RACE, YOU SAID YOU WOULD TAKE MENTAL SNAPSHOTS OF THESE RACE TRACKS AS YOU VISIT THEM FOR WHAT COULD BE THE LAST TIME. WHAT SNAPSHOT DO YOU TAKE FROM HERE? "Not a good one. Loose, that’s what I’ll remember from today. It’s just discouraging. Michigan has been a good track for us over the years, and it’s not like we had a flat or had a problem that put us behind, we just never did run good.

Generally, the guys will get this thing adjusted and get it going, but it didn’t happen today for some reason. I’m not sure what the deal was, but we kept banging the tops of the fenders on the tires and was concerned about cutting tires. We just never got it going."

A LOT OF CARS WERE LOOSE. IS THAT A PRODUCT OF A RACE TRACK THAT HAS SEEN TWO DAYS OF RAIN? "I really can’t say. We were loose on the turn in, but then we were plowing in the center, so we had two or three issues. So, I can’t really say.

We weren’t close enough to be able to be a guy to judge off of; I think you’d have to look at the guys who were up in the top 15 – look at those guys and see what they say. The track was different for us today. We just never could get a hold of it like we had during the week."
