...for power transmission and control technology
* Spotlight on energy efficiency and life cycle costs
Power transmission technology has a determining impact on the quality of almost all types of machinery. It is also an essential component in automation systems.
Thanks to the boom in factory automation in the newly industrializing economies, the power transmission sector has grown rapidly in recent years. According to the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), Germany leads the international league table with a market share of 26 percent, followed by Japan (11.8 percent), Italy (8.2 percent), the USA (7.4 percent) and China (7.1 percent). Total power transmission exports amounted to €41.4 billion in 2007.
China is a major exporter and importer of power transmission equipment. From the viewpoint of German manufacturers the People's Republic is the third largest export market after the USA and France. Total German power transmission exports amounted to €10.8 billion in 2007.
PTC Asia is the region's largest trade show for power transmission, fluid power, compressors, as well as compressed air and vacuum systems. It has developed in step with the booming Asian economy. From 27 to 30 October 1,200 exhibitors from 28 countries will present their innovative products and systems on a net display area of approx. 26,000 square metres. This year the focus will be on energy efficiency and life cycle costs.
As a full-scale transition to sustainable energy sources is not feasible in the short term, the only alternative is to reduce energy consumption wherever possible - for example, by boosting the efficiency of drive systems. Exhibitors from China, Taiwan, Germany, Italy, Japan and the USA will present the latest energy-efficient drive systems for automation applications. A further important aspect will be life cycle management - i.e. the provision of seamless support, beginning with the initial design idea and ending with final disposal/recycling of the product concerned.
For the past ten years Getriebebau NORD GmbH & Co. KG, Bargteheide/Germany, has chosen PTC ASIA as the place to showcase its complete portfolio of gears, geared motors and sophisticated control electronics.
"Customers are no longer looking for stand-alone products. Instead they want tailor-made power transmission solutions. Getriebebau NORD will rise to this challenge at this year's PTC ASIA," says the company's Marketing Director, Bernd Klimek. "We have our own production facilities in China, as well as numerous branch offices. Getriebebau NORD works together with its customers in order to achieve customized solutions. This applies from the initial project planning stage right through to final plant commissioning," Klimek adds.
A further long-standing exhibitor at PTC ASIA is Eaton Fluid Power (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. "We are pleased about the increase in the number of trade visitors at PTC ASIA," says Gong Lixin, Sales Manager at Eaton. "PTC Asia is the ideal platform for communicating with existing and prospective customers. In our role as a globally active company we use PTC ASIA to pursue our expansion strategy into new markets," Lixin explains.
Two trade fairs at one venue
From 27 to 30 October the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) will also be hosting CeMAT ASIA - the region's leading trade fair for intralogistics.
