Victory and red plate for Chiara Fontanesi at Orehova Vas

Today was big celebration of motocross in Slovenia. The club AMD Orehova Vas has their 55th anniversary. Moreover on their track they have World championship events of motocross from 70ties. What can be better then celebrate it by MX3 and WMX FIM Motocross World Championship?
They are trying to improve every year. This year in no exception. On very natural track they have prepared some small changes in design to make it more attractive. For the WMX FIM Motocross World Championship it is just second time here. Even if the weather is not ideal nothing can spoil good atmosphere.
Saturday was full of rain so everybody crossed the fingers for dryer weather. It came truth and plenty of the spectators enjoyed breathtaking race. Due to night storms and soft Sundays´ showers the track has to be shortened for WMX. It was no problem for Chiara Fontanesi who won this round and got the red plate again.
Race 1
The situation from yesterday repeated and the heat was shortened because of not easy surface of the track. There was heavy rain all night long and in the morning sticky mud was everywhere. Girls were dirty as hell. For WMX it was 12 minutes and 37 on the track. Due to this Natalie Kane has made just 4 laps and become a leader of race one.
Natalie Kane: “This is very difficult. The non - sticky mud from yesterday turned into sticky substance. It was raining during the night and in morning it has been ridden by no one. So that´s why. “
Because of bad start Chiara Fontanesi didn´t have time to catch Natalie and finally end on the second position. In warming up the best lap time belongs to her: 1:56, 942. Kanes´ lap was just 0:1,472 worst then her.
Britt van der Wekken was third. She starts as fourth, then she took the second position just behind Natalie Kane, but in last measured lap she was overtaken by Chiara Fontanesi.
The fourth was Virgine Germond from Switzerland. She can speed up even though the terrain was very tricky. The seventh position she could turn it into the fourth.
Fifth was Justine Charroux from France. In the first lap she was sixth, but from the second lap we saw her stably on the fifth place.
Because of fall Marrianne Veenstra obtained sixth position. She was not very satisfied with this result but she accepted the rules of shortened Race one.
Joanna Miller had quite good start but later on the rain and mud takes her power and she managed to be on seventh position.
Trio which consist of Kimberly Braam, Sanna Kärkkäinen and Selina Schittenhelm closed the top ten of Race one.
Race 2
The second heat for WMX girls was much better according weather and terrain. Instead of shortened race they have full time of the heat. There was big battle between Irish Natalia Kane and Italian Chiara Fontanessi. They were wheel to wheel in first two laps with Kane ahead. Afterwards Chiara started pushing really hard and Kane gave it up. After this duo there was huge gap. They were very quick and motivated by this battle. Fontanesi ended as first and it was kind of revenge to this track. Last year she was disappointed because of second place, that´s why now she was trying to be very fast from the begging and she can now finally enjoy the victory from Slovenia.
Natalie Kane from HM Plant KTM UK has some problems with starter after first heat, but for the second everything was prepared. She obtained second position after fighting with Chiara Fontanessi. She crossed finish line 28 seconds after her.
Compare to the Race one, Anne Borchers from Germany manage to score better. From 18th place in first heat she became third.
Dutchman Britt van der Wekken had better result from the muddy first race then from the second. She was fighting with Francesca Nocera. Just after the start Italian Nocera was ahead but Van der Wekken pushed hard and got fourth place. At the end there were eight seconds between them.
Another Italian, Francesca Nocera was completing top five riders. She was tying to be in front of Birtt van der Wekken. She made it two times but just for a while. In results her name can be seen on fifth place.
Justine Charroux from France was starting from the 15th position. Against this bad beginning she wanted stubbornly smoothing better. In the middle of the Race two she made seventh and finally sixth position.
On seventh place was the same rider as in Race one. It was Joanna Miller from Poland. She might have better position but she made a mistake and two laps before chessboard flag she moved down and ended as 7th.
Marianne Veenstra felt down and for a while she was under her bike. She lost a lot of time by this and obtained 8th place.
Dutchman Kimberly Braam and Italian Floriana Parrini were ninth and tenth.
