Accidents spoil Vallelunga's weekend of GPC Squadra Corse
Weekend spoiled by accidents for GPC Squadra Corse in the first round of the International GT Open 2008 championship.
Yesterday, in free practices, Saez-Frassineti have been victims of the engine brake on their F430 Ferrari that forced them to skip the second free practice session for the due fixtures. In qualifying they managed to obtain the tenth time (1'35.978), while Petrobelli-Faulkner (1'36.344) got the twelfth fastest performance.
In the first part of race one, Frassineti has been involved, without any responsibility, in an accident that forced him to an early retirement. Same fate for Petrobelli-Faulkner too, that managed anyway to cross the finish line in fourteenth position, even if one lap adrift.
Positive traits in race two instead, whereby Saez-Frassineti have been authors of an attack race that took them to the twelfth final position. Retirement in the final stages for Petrobelli-Faulkner.

"For GPC Squadra Corse this has been a troubled weekend, even if for reasons not directly connected to our organization. I saw an excess of heat from a lot of crews, which face races with too much impetuosity that easily ends up in damaging the result of other teams.
That´s a real shame, for without these episodes we could have scored different results but we will surely be able to make up for the lost ground right from the next race".
Racing Team Edil Cris soon on the podium in the opening round of the International GT Open 2008 championship at Vallelunga that marked the return of the team to the series after a year of absence.
Cressoni-Bontempelli obtained the ninth time in qualifying (1'35.868), while Monfardini-Frezza the thirteenth position (1'35.868).
