B-Quick ready for new Thailand Super Series season

13.05.2016: With a successful two day pre season test at Bira Circuit recently completed, B-Quik Racing is in

With a successful two day pre season test at Bira Circuit recently completed, B-Quik Racing is in good shape and is now busy making final preparations for the opening round of Thailand Super Series (TSS) 2016, which takes place in Buriram in just a week’s time.

The team is all set for its biggest and strongest ever participation in TSS and for the long trip to the North East for the season opener we will have no less than four entries in Super Car, three cars in the headlining GTM category and a further one in GTC.

That line up in GTM will be led out by two Audi R8 LMS Cup entries for Henk J. Kiks and Daniel Bilski, the first time the team has ever fielded two Audis in Super Car.

Henk has driven the #26 Audi for the last two seasons in GTM but Daniel, after piloting our Porsche 997 GT3 Cup in 2015 during his TSS rookie year, will step up to drive a second Audi which arrived in Thailand a few weeks ago.

It’s the same car in fact that he successfully raced to clinch the ‘Amateur Cup’ title in Audi’s pan-Asian ‘R8 Cup’ one make race series last year, so just like Henk, he has plenty of familiarity with the German racecar to call upon get him out of the blocks quickly next weekend.

A week ago the team moved down to Pattaya’s Bira International Circuit for a pre season shakedown ahead of the trip to Buriram and the two days went well as both Henk and Daniel turned in trouble free laps in the two Audis in the high temperatures of Thailand’s continuing heatwave and were able to work through the full scheduled technical programme which focused mainly around checking the cars for the new season and setup work as well as seat time for the drivers after the six month long close season.

For Daniel it was his first time in an Audi R8 LMS Cup around Bira Circuit and the Australian quickly settled in and turned in very representative times over both days.

Meanwhile, our Dutch team leader posted his PB on the historic 2.4-km track and was also satisfied with how the test panned out.

Alongside the two Audis we will have a new driver in the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup in GTM, currently for one race to test the waters, while we will also enter one of our newly acquired Porsche 996 GT3 Cup racers in the GTC class, marking our debut in the ‘junior’ Super Car category.

That car will have an internal driver. Due to the spare parts inventory build up we will run just one 996 for the first round. Finally our Honda Brios will be back in Super Eco.

The team has also reorganised the technical staffing line up for this year and has drafted six new technicians into the team, picked from within B-Quik Co. Ltd., with Crew Chief Idriss Bin Ibrahim recently overseeing their exhaustive introductory training programme.

This continues our core philosophy of drawing the best and brightest from the company to work with the race team.

The Thailand Super Series season kicks off next weekend at Chang International Circuit (20-22 May) and Super Car GTM will feature three races, this ‘triple header’ format building on the successful debut of this new concept at Bangsaen last November.

The races will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

B-Quik Racing, facing what is certain to be the most competitive grid ever seen in Thai motorsport history, will be looking for podium finishes in Buriram and to collect as many points as possible towards the Teams’ championship.

Henk J. Kiks (#26 Audi R8 LMS Cup): “
The team has taken a step forward and we have optimised the organisational processes so as to be very well prepared and able to run two Audis in Super Car.

The test was all about checking the cars over, getting everyone bedded in and working towards setups. This went pretty well and I think we are in a good position for Buriram.

The entry in TSS this year is strong, new drivers have come in and many have upgraded cars too so we’re going to have to work really hard, but the team is highly motivated, we all want to be on the podium and to be pushing forward.

Collecting as many Teams’ points as possible will be the objective in Buriram and I can’t wait to be out there. Clearly it’s going to be a great year for TSS, we have to make sure it’s also a great year for B-Quik Racing.”

Daniel Bilski (#59 Audi R8 LMS Cup): “
After a successful test I can't wait to get to Buriram for the first round of the 2016 TSS. The cars are in good shape, the crew is ready and we're all keen to get to work in Buriram.

It's really exciting to have two Audi R8 LMS Cup cars on the grid for the first time in Thailand's motorsport history.

I'm sure securing podium finishes is going to be exceptionally challenging given the quality of the entries, but that's what makes it even more exciting.

The team is ready for the challenge and will be arriving in Buriram determined to put our Audis at the sharp end of the grid.”
