Avec sa Giulietta TCR, Alfa Romeo est le cinquième constructeur représenté en TCR Benelux





« Une course pour voitures de tourisme n’est réussie que si Alfa Romeo est de la partie ! »



On l’attendait impatiemment, à commencer par les fans de la marque de Milan. Mais maintenant, c’est officiel : l’Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR de l’équipe Renga et Charleroi on Tracks sera au départ de la quatrième épreuve du TCR Benelux pour y affronter les VW, SEAT, Opel et Honda, ce qui portera à cinq le nombre de constructeurs représentés dans la nouvelle compétition de sprint pour voitures de tourisme.


En préparation de ce rendez-vous, programmé les 24 et 25 septembre sur le circuit luxembourgeois de Colmar-Berg, toute l’équipe a effectué une journée d’essais sur le Circuit Jules Tacheny de Mettet avec ses deux pilotes, Fabio Marchiafava et Loris Cencetti.


« Tout est nouveau pour nous tous », explique Nicolas Renga, l’homme à la base de l’arrivée d’Alfa Romeo en TCR Benelux. « Fabio a déjà parcouru quelques kilomètres dans le cadre des festivités des 350 ans de Charleroi, mais nous n’avions pas encore roulé sur un vrai circuit.


Cette journée de test avait comme but de nous permettre d’en savoir un peu plus sur le comportement de la voiture, d’échanger des informations avec les techniciens et de déjà définir les premiers réglages.


Nous sommes extrêmement fiers d’amener une Alfa Romeo au sein du TCR Benelux. Parce que, franchement, une course pour voitures de tourisme n’est réussie que si Alfa Romeo est de la partie, non ? »


Le concessionnaire Alfa Romeo Renga et Fabio Marchiafava ont été les forces vives derrière la préparation – un peu plus longue que prévue – du bolide rouge.


« On ne peut pas comparer la structure de Romeo Ferraris, qui a développé et construit la Giulietta TCR, avec les départements compétition de certains constructeurs », précise Fabio Marchiafava.


 « Il a fallu plus de temps pour monter la voiture, mais cela est surtout dû à la livraison tardive de certaines pièces, comme la fameuse boîte de vitesses SADEV. Ferraris a fait tout ce qu’il a pu, mais il dépendait lui-même de tiers. »




Pour l’exploitation de l’Alfa Romeo #27 sur la piste, Nicolas Renga et Fabio Marchiafava pourront compter sur le soutien logistique de Marc VDS Racing Team et sur l’expertise technique de Fabio Lazzerini, « Monsieur R Tec ».


« Appelez-nous les quatre Carolos », plaisante Nicolas. « Et nous avons aussi Alain Corda comme team-manager. Leur aide est indispensable. Ils croient fermement dans l’Alfa Romeo en TCR et ils voient cela comme un défi d’apporter leur contribution au retour de la marque en compétition.


Les premières courses, et particulièrement celle de Colmar-Berg, doivent être considérées comme une préparation grandeur nature pour 2017. Notre tâche sera d’accumuler les kilomètres, de réunir un maximum d’infos et d’emmener la voiture sans dommage jusqu’à l’arrivée. »


Rappelons que Fabio Marchiafava et Loris Cencetti se connaissent depuis un certain temps déjà. En 2013, ils s’étaient affrontés pour le titre dans le Trofeo Abarth Benelux. A l’époque, l’Italo-luxembourgeois avait eu le dernier mot face à l’Italo-belge de Charleroi.


Depuis, Loris Cencetti a eu l’occasion de faire connaissance avec une voiture répondant à la réglementation TCR. En BRCC, il a été l’équipier de Guillaume Mondron sur la SEAT Allure. Ensuite, lors du TCR Kick-Off et de la première épreuve à Spa, on l’a vu au volant d’une SEAT du Bas Koeten Racing.


 Quant à Fabio Marchiafava, il avait piloté une SEAT de l’équipe hollandais lors du Test-Day du TCR Benelux sur le Circuit Park Zandvoort.


« Les premiers tours avec l’Alfa Romeo nous ont directement fait comprendre que c’est une vraie voiture de course et qu’elle est bien née », se réjouissent en coeur les deux pilotes. « Vivement la suite ! »
