Comini et Potty vainqueurs d’une course TCR animée au Circuit Colmar-Berg

La quatrième épreuve du TCR Benelux 2016 sur le Circuit de Colmar-Berg a débuté en fanfare ce samedi après-midi avec une Qualifying Long Race animée à souhait.



Parti depuis la pole position, le Suisse Stefano Comini (VW Golf GTI #52 WRT) a rapidement creusé un petit écart sur ses poursuivants… avant de voir son avance réduite à néant par l’intervention d’une Safety-Car, conséquence d’un début d’incendie – suite à un bris de moteur – de la Honda Civic #5 de Benjamin Lessennes.


Le jeune pilote de la Honda et son équipier Renaud Kuppens rejoignaient alors sur la liste des abandons la SEAT Leon #7 du RACB National Team, Denis Dupont ayant percuté la chicane dès le premier tour.


Actuel leader de l’European Touring Car Championship (ETCC), Kris Richard (Honda Civic #18 Boutsen Ginion Racing) en profitait pour revenir dans les roues du leader.


Derrière les deux Suisses, Pierre-Yves Corthals (Opel Astra #23 DG Sport Compétition), Vincent Radermecker (VW Golf GTI #20 Milo Racing) et Mathieu Detry (SEAT Leon #6 Ferry Monster Autosport) complétaient alors le top 5.


Quelques minutes après la relance, c’est une sortie de piste de Didier Van Dalen, planté dans le bac à gravier du premier virage suite à une crevaison lente, qui provoquait une deuxième neutralisation de cette course d’une heure.




Tous les équipages effectuaient leur arrêt obligatoire à ce moment et Maxime Potty reprenait la piste en tête du peloton. Malgré une nouvelle intervention de la voiture de sécurité, le jeune pilote de 16 ans gérait parfaitement la pression pour remporter sa première course en TCR Benelux en compagnie de Stefano Comini.


« Je me suis régalé », souriait le Suisse, champion en titre du TCR International. « Ce championnat est vraiment cool et j’adore ce circuit très technique de Colmar-Berg qui convient bien à mon style de pilotage. Bravo à Maxime qui, malgré son jeune âge, a su garder la tête froide en fin de course. »


Fred Caprasse (Opel #23) croyait prendre une deuxième place synonyme de gros points au championnat pour le duo qu’il forme avec Pierre-Yves Corthals.


 Mais une pénalité pour non-respect de la procédure de pit-stop les faisait glisser au 6e rang. L’équipe DG Sport Opel Team Belgium a toutefois fait appel de la décision.


Dès lors, la deuxième marche du podium revenait aux frères Guillaume et Edouard Mondron (SEAT Leon #2 Delahaye Racing Team), l’aîné des deux ayant pris le meilleur sur Stéphane Lémeret (Honda Civic #18 Boutsen Ginion Racing) durant la seconde moitié de la course.


Alexis van de Poele et Romain de Leval ponctuaient leur remontée depuis la 11e position sur la grille au 4e rang avec leur VW Golf GTI TCR #4 du Delahaye Racing Team, Steve Vanbellingen et David Dermont (VW Golf GTI #21) complétant le top 5 de cette course riche en événements et en rebondissements.


Au vu du spectacle proposé lors de cette Qualifying Long Race, qui fut incontestablement la plus passionnante depuis le début de la saison, les quatre Sprints au menu ce dimanche promettent d’être très animés. Le départ de la Sprint Race 1 (directement suivie de la SR2) sera donné à 10h35, celui de la Sprint Race 3 (avec la SR 4 dans la foulée) à 17h10.
