Trident: GP2 and GP3 Series back on-track at Yas Marina for 2016 finale.

18.11.2016: The Team Trident drivers look forward to cap an high-profile season in style. The Abu Dhabi track will be the home of the 2016 finale

The Team Trident drivers look forward to cap an high-profile season in style.

The Abu Dhabi track will be the home of the 2016 finale for both championships, rounding out a top-class season for the team.

Almost two months after the Malaysian round of the GP2 Series at Sepang where Luca Ghiotto broke the ice for his maiden win in the series, the Italian rookie is set to continue in his consistent year with the Trident team. He will be aiming for his pre-season goal of ending 2016 among the top-5.

On paper, Ghiotto has what it takes to go even further as the 24-point gap to fourth can be closed in one round. With four podium finishes including one win and two second places in the last six round, Ghiotto’s performance level has matched the series’ leading characters.

His constant improvement, favoured by the great job done together with the team’s personnel and to the straightforward strategy, will make the season finale even more interesting.

“The win at Sepang is the most awaited and important moment of the year - said Luca - The team worked so hard to reach this goal and the feeling has been unforgettable. Now we hope to do it all again at Yas Marina”.

Lining-up alongside the Italian will be 20-year-old Indonesian Philo Armand, who is growing up race by race and getting the right chemistry with the series.

Focusing on the GP3 Series, the spotlights will once again be on the battle among the frontrunners as Charles Leclerc continues to lead the series.

Antonio Fuoco is aiming for a rebound as he now stands with a 16-point deficit on Alexander Albon for second place and still has the theoretical chance to contend for the title: he is looking forward to secure his third win of the season.

Sandy Stuvik, who took his fourth points finish in the previous round at Sepang, will try to fight among the front end of the pack as well as Artur Janosz, who made it to the top-8 at Monza. Giuliano Alesi, who did some valuable work with the Trident technical staff, is aiming to cap the season with a prestigious result.

The GP2 Series will follow an unusual schedule starting with 45 minutes of practice starting at 11:15 on Friday. Qualifying will be on the same day at 19:10. Saturday will feature race 1 at 18:40 while race 2 will go underway at 14:20.

Qualifying will be on Friday for the GP3 Series too, beginning at 15:10, after the 45-minute free session scheduled to start at 10:00 AM. Race 1 will be held on Saturday at 12:25, while Race 2 will begin at 13:00 on Sunday. As usual, all the track activity will benefit from international live TV coverage.
