Eight out of 10 for ERC on Rallye Monte-Carlo

24.01.2017: Drivers with FIA European Rally Championship experience starred on Rallye Monte-Carlo last weekend with eight of the top 10 having

Drivers with FIA European Rally Championship experience starred on Rallye Monte-Carlo last weekend with eight of the top 10 having competed in the ERC in the past.

Craig Breen, ERC runner-up in 2015, placed a fine fifth overall in a factory Citroën DS3 WRC (pictured), while Stéphane Lefebvre was a stage-winning ninth in a new-generation Citroën C3 WRC.

Ott Tänak, who won the ERC-counting auto24 Rally Estonia in 2014, placed third, one position behind Jari-Matti Latvala, who tried the ERC for size during his early career.

Elfyn Evans (sixth) and Andreas Mikkelsen (seventh and first in WRC2) also have ERC experience, while 2013 ERC champion Jan Kopecký took eighth and second in WRC2.

Bryan Bouffier, a multiple ERC event winner, completed the top 10 for the Gemini Clinic Rally Team. The 2017 ERC season begins with the Azores Airlines Rallye from 30 March-1 April.

Breen, Kopecký and Mikkelsen are all former winners of the spectacular gravel event, as are world championship factory drivers Juho Hänninen and Kris Meeke, who were also in action on Rallye Monte-Carlo.
