Armstrong Consolidates His Lead in the Italian F4 Championship

19.07.2017: Lorandi is ahead in the Rookie Trophy Bhaitech remain in control of the Team’s Championship, but Prema Power

Lorandi is ahead in the Rookie Trophy

Bhaitech remain in control of the Team’s Championship, but Prema Power Team are closing in. Jenzer Motorsport has moved into third ahead of DR Formula

A win, a third and an eighth placing at the Mugello circuit has allowed the New Zealander Marcus Armstrong (Prema Power Team) to increase his advantage over his closest challenger, the Italian Lorenzo Colombo (Bhaitech): 157 points to 145 (before Mugello the gap was a single point).

Third with 124 points is the Dutchman Job Van Uitert (Jenzer Motorsport), who collected no points from Races 1 and 2, however did win Race 3 and is still in contention for the title. On 115 points in fourth position is the Venezuelan Sebastian Fernandez (Bhaitech). He is just 2 points ahead of the Russian (113) Artem Petrov of DR Formula, who stood on the third step of the podium in Race 2.

• Sixth with 94 points is the Italian Leonardo Lorandi, with two fourth placings and a fifth at Mugello, ahead of the Estonian Juri Vips (Prema Power Team), 88 points, who had a great run on the Mugello circuit with two second placings and a win.

A distance slightly further back in eighth position is the Guatemalan Ian Rodriguez (DRZ Benelli), with 63 points. Ninth with 57 points we find the German Lirim Zendeli (BWT Muecke Motorsport), followed by the Brazilian Felipe Drugovich (Van Amersfoort Racing), 52 points.

• Lorandi dominated the Rookie Trophy at Mugello, taking three wins from three starts, therefore he has 278 points with the Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi (Prema Power Team) in second on 158. Third is the Argentine Giorgio Carrara (Jenzer Motorsport), who has 134 punti.

He is closely followed by - on 125 points – the Brasilian from DR Formula Felipe Branquinho. Rounding out the top five with 84 points is the Italian Andrea Dell’Accio, Henry Morrogh Racing.

• In the Woman’s Trophy, the German Sophia Flörsch, - BWT Mücke Motorsport – remains in first place with 200 points.

• In the Team’s Championship, Bhaitech still leads with 335 points, but Prema Power Team has narrowed the gap with 271 points (prior to the weekend at Mugello they were on 98 points) Jenzer Motorsport has moved past DR Formula into third position: 170 to 164 points respectively. In fifth place is BWT Muecke Motorsport: 89 points.

• The fifth round of the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth will be run over the weekend of 8th to 10th of September at Imola.
