Headline-making Kiwi now Macau-Bound
Seventeen-year-old New Zealander Brendon Hartley comes to Macau as the youngest ever Formula Renault Euro Cup champion. It is the first European single seater title for a New Zealander since Mike Thackwell won the Euro Formula 2 Championship in 1984, the same year he finished third in the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix. Hartley will no doubt be looking to go one – or two – better than his countryman.
Earlier this year, Hartley astonished observers by taking fourth place at the Masters of Formula 3, this year held at Zolder in Belgium, a race widely recognised as a precursor to the FIA Formula 3 Intercontinental Cup at Macau.
The Red Bull youngster will certainly be one to watch!
Macau Winner Gets F1 Test
Honda has granted 2006 Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix winner and now rising GP2 star Mike Conway his first proper Formula 1 test at Barcelona this month. The 24-year-old already has some straight-line testing experience with Honda as part of his young driver programme role, but this will mark his first full run on a track. Conway won the coveted British F3 Championship in 2006 and followed that up with victory in the prestigious Macau GP, and his career looks to be going from strengthto-strength.
Solid Gold Entry for Silver Jubilee
The famous Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix may be celebrating its Silver Jubilee, but the line-up this year is nothing short of solid gold, and includes the world’s most successful young racers in the category:
FIA World Touring Car Championship Couto Set for Macau Thriller
Macau’s Andre Couto, winner of the Formula 3 Grand Prix in 2000, is set for another outing in the final rounds of the FIA WTCC on his "home" circuit. Couto will be at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo 156. Joining Couto for one-off championship appearances will be multiple Guia Race winner and victor in one of the FIA WTCC rounds at Macau in 2005,
Dutchman Duncan Huisman and Macau newcomer and BTCC racer Colin Turkington in a pair of BMW 320sis. SEAT Sport has entered Rickard Rydell winner of the 1992 Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix and Guia Circuit regular. From Macau comes Ao Chi Hong in a BMW 320i.

41st Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix Pre-Macau Endurance Challenge for Plater
The factory Kawasaki team that includes Steve Plater, having clinched second place in the World Endurance Championship and unable to make up the gap to the leaders, will opt out of the final round at Doha on November 10.
So Plater will take a guest ride with the British Phase One Yamaha team. He will be joined on the grid by fellow Macau entrants Thomas Hinterreiter and Frank Heidger before heading off to Macau.
McGuinness Continues Stellar Year
Macau regular John McGuinness continued what has been an excellent season so far when he won the "Stars of Darley" title for a fourth consecutive time. After securing the last minute loan of a Stobart Vent-Axia Motorsport Honda when his TT-winning HM Plant Honda was unavailable, he took pole position and won both races to the delight of fans.
Special Events A1 GP Another First for Macau
For the first time ever an A1 GP car will drive on the tight and twisting Guia Circuit. Spectators will be able to see A1 Team China’s demonstration laps on Sunday with Team China’s Cheng Congfu at the wheel as part of the special events programme.
The Future Today
Another "first" for Macau this year will be demo laps from the Denso Toyota Supra HV-R hybrid race car. The car is based on the Supra GT which was used in Super GT races up until last year, and has been modified and equipped with a special racing hybrid system.
It has already proven itself on the race track in Japan, and at Macau Super GT racer Macau’s Andre Couto will take this fascinating car of the future through its paces.
Hampshire racing driver Ollie Hancock will start his preparations for the 2008 season next week during a two-day test at Oulton Park with leading Formula Renault outfit Hillspeed Racing.
Hancock finished third overall in his first season in the Formula Renault BARC championship this year, also claiming the top rookie prize, and will return next year for an assault on the weiter >>
