Under the supervision of ATCUAE President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the organization was awarded high praise in a review of this year’s event.

With around 60,000 spectators and events for Formula 1, Formula 2 and GP3 running all weekend, the operations of such a spectacle are no simple task. As safety has always been a key priority for Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the medial arm of the operations is paramount.

The medical team is a mixture of international and local specialists who come together as one to provide world class care and to ensure that Abu Dhabi has one of the best F1 medical teams in the world, along with a good working partnership with the National Ambulance, which together make up the sterling team of medical professionals on hand.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem is passionate about safety and for nine years the team has evolved to contain specialists who share that passion. He manages the 75 professionals that made up the medical team at the Etihad Airways Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“It’s very important for us to maintain the highest standards in safety,” said Mohammed Ben Sulayem in a statement. “We are proud of such a strong and compliemntary report by the FIA for providing such a high standard. It’s a major achievement to receive such high praise from the FIA for our successful medical performance.”

The review by Dr. Alain Chantegret, the FIA Permanent Medical Delegate, stated that the event held
, “excellent medical organization, excellent work from the CMO, Dr Petherbridge, and the DCMO, Dr Shereen Habib, very good application of the medical rules.” The review continued, “very good organization of the medical center, excellent medical team, […] excellent atmosphere.”

Dr. Sean Petherbridge said in a statement,
“It is my pleasure to be part of a world class team to ensure the best medical safety for Abu Dhabi and the UAE. We all hope that the event is safe, but we are ready for anything when the eyes of the world are on the UAE.”
