Kronos Total Citroen World Rally Team ace Sebastien Loeb won Rally Japan today, made official by completing the final running of the Obihiro Superspecial. Loeb, who already held the FIA World Rally Championship records for most consecutive victories and most victories in a single season, added most-ever weiter >>
Subaru have had a rough time of it in Japan, with the main problem being Petter Solberg's brakes. Petter is the first to admit that the team, and in particular his team of mechanics, have been working tirelessly to give him a car with which he can challenge Loeb and Gronholm, giving him a chance to figh weiter >>
Dani Sordo began the day in sixth overall, but after the day's opening stage, Sordo fell into seventh. But the battle for sixth was over on the following two stages where Petter Solberg suffered brake problems that essentially gave the position over to Sordo. BP-Ford World Rally Team ace Marcus Gronholm wants to win Rally Japan, but Sebastien Loeb might have a thing or two to say about that. Gronholm completed the stage with a blindingly quick time, but was still 0.1sec slower than Loeb. The third and final leg of Rally Japan started this morning under overcast and threatening skies from Obihiro on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.
Almost immediately the action began with Argentinean driver Luis Perez Companc having an incident within minutes of starting the first stage of the day, Rera Kamuy 8.76-kilometres.

The third leg began with a bang as several drivers reported problems upon completion of the day's opening test. Matthew Wilson reported an off, and his Stobart VK M-Sport Ford Rally Team team-mate Luis Perez Companc spent a large amount of time after an off trying to get back onto the stage. Sebastien Loeb ended a fantastic day of rallying with the top times on both runnings of Rally Japan's superspecial. Loeb completed the stage 0.3sec ahead of Marcus Gronholm on both runs. Gronholm will begin the start of leg three 25.6sec down on the leader.
