Beim Sechsstundenrennen in Spa-Francorchamps stand der Porsche 911 RSR von Dempsey Proton Racing mit der Startnummer 77 auf der Pole-Position.



In dem packenden Saisonauftakt der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC machte dann jedoch ein Benzinpumpenproblem Christian Ried (Schönebürg), Matt Campbell (Australien) und Julien Andlauer (Frankreich) einen Strich durch die Rechnung.



 Als Vierte verpassten sie am Ende nur knapp das Podium in der Klasse GTE-Am. Der zweite von der Mannschaft aus Ummendorf eingesetzte 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 88 kam auf der Traditionsrennstrecke in den Ardennen als Sechster ins Ziel.

Michael Ried, Teameigner und Technischer Direktor:
„Mit der Pole-Position haben wir gut vorgelegt, doch leider ist es im Rennen dann nicht ganz so gut für uns gelaufen. Wir nehmen jedoch die vielen positiven Dinge von diesem spannenden Saisonauftakt mit nach Hause und konzentrieren uns jetzt ganz auf die Vorbereitung auf die 24 Stunden von Le Mans.“



Christian Ried (Porsche 911 RSR #77)
: „Für einen Rennfahrer ist es immer bitter, wenn er durch ein technisches Problem um den verdienten Erfolg gebracht wird. Dass wir in Spa mehr verdient gehabt hätten als den undankbaren vierten Platz, das steht außer Frage – nicht nur wegen der Pole-Position. Jetzt greifen wir in Le Mans noch motivierter an.“



Matt Campbell (Porsche 911 RSR #77)
: „Für mein erstes Rennen mit dem neuen Team und den neuen Teamkollegen lief es eigentlich sehr gut. Wir fuhren in der Spitzengruppe mit, als uns ein Problem mit der Benzinpumpe zu einem Extra-Boxenstopp zwang, bei dem wir wertvolle Zeit verloren.“



Julien Andlauer (Porsche 911 RSR #77):
„Ich habe mein erstes Rennen in der WEC sehr genossen. Der Porsche 911 RSR war toll zu fahren. Ohne das technische Problem hätte es sicherlich für ein Podium gereicht.“



Matteo Cairoli (Porsche 911 RSR #88):
„Das war nicht unser Rennen. Doch unser Team ist erfahren genug, um daraus die nötigen Schlüsse zu ziehen. Ich bin sicher, dass wir in Le Mans wieder vorne mitfahren können.“



Khaled Al Qubaisi (Porsche 911 RSR #88)
: „Meine Rückkehr in die WEC habe ich mir schon etwas anders vorgestellt. Die Konkurrenz ist jedoch unglaublich stark. Wenn da nicht alles auf den Punkt passt, hast Du keine Chance.“



Giorgio Roda (Porsche 911 RSR #88):
„Dieses Auftaktrennen ist nicht so gelaufen, wie wir das erhofft hatten. Trotzdem haben wir für Le Mans viel gelernt. Ich hoffe, dass wir dann um den Sieg fahren können.“
