Mil Milhas Brazil, miles away…

19.10.2007: Mil Milhas Brazil, miles away…

Monza, Valencia, Nurburgring, Spa, Silverstone…the five European rounds of the 2007 Le Mans Series have been held. 2007 was a season of full of innovation, changes and hard fought battles in all four categories.

All throughout this fourth season, the Le Mans Series, namesake of the 24-Hours of Le Mans was, once again, successful in demonstrating its concept of motor racing to an increasing number of enthusiasts: the alliance between the professionalism required for the highest level of competition and sportsmanship, without neglecting the inherent conviviality of the sport.

Now, all eyes are focused on Interlagos. The season is not yet finished and this year’s finale will be held in Brazil in a move to look towards new horizons and will be the sixth date on a calendar, which grows bigger each year. The 1000 "Milhas" of Interlagos will be contested this coming November 10. Be sure not to miss this all important race, in which the title chase is still very much alive in three of the four categories after the round in England.

This December 1st will be a night to remember when all the competitors come together for the much anticipated Prize Giving Ceremony at the Pavillon d’Armenonville.

Mil Milhas Brazil

The cars that have taken to the sea to compete in the Mil Milhas of Interlagos left the French town of Le Havre on October 9, after being meticulously loaded into containers.

The ships and their precious cargo will head to Sao Paulo were the 22 cars entered to date will arrive in a couple of weeks.

Peugeot, Pescarolo, Creation, Embassy, Larbre, Spyker, and Luc Alphand Adventures will be there on November 10 for an exceptional endurance race that will wind up the season in a festive and sun drenched atmosphere.

1000 miles, nearly 11 hours of competition under skies boasting of 26° degree temperatures this time of year….both emotions and engines will heat up!

Some of the European teams are getting into the Brazilian spirit. Embassy and AMR Larbre Competition have signed top Brazilian drivers such as Mario Haberfeld and Fernando Rees to join their line-ups.

With a local start time of 12h00 (15h00 in France, 14h00 in the United Kingdom) the race’s end will come in the dark of the night. Strong sensations and extraordinary images are guaranteed. There are also some serious championship implications, especially in "LM" P1. This race, in fact, could be a perfect illustration of David beating Goliath:

Pescarolo Sport could win the title for a third consecutive year, because after the last round at Silverstone there are just two points separating the twice defending champions and the n°8 Peugeot.

The gap is the same between Peugeot drivers Pedro Lamy and Stéphane Sarrazin and Jean-Christophe Boullion (Pescarolo Sport); Emmanuel Collard is four points back due to his absence at the Valencia round. Everything is still very much to race for in the premier category.

In "LM" P2, Barazi-Epsilon will pull out all the stops to ensure they finish the season third overall. In "LM" GT2, the battle will be the most intense between the n°77 Felbermayr Proton Porsche and the n° 97 from GPC Sport for second place. The invitation for the 24-Hours of Le Mans will be settled on Brazilian soil.

Motors TV will air the Mil Milhas live from start to finish. European fans will thus be able to follow their favourite teams for this exciting season finale and first race in the history of the Le Mans Series to be held in South America.
