16.09.2018: Following another intense day of competition at Rally Turkey, Ken Torn now leads the way with a 25.3 second advantage over Emil Bergkvist in second. Fellow championship contender Dennis Rådström is now in third place, albeit more than four minutes adrift

Following another intense day of competition at Rally Turkey, Ken Torn now leads the way with a 25.3 second advantage over Emil Bergkvist in second. Fellow championship contender Dennis Rådström is now in third place, albeit more than four minutes adrift of the leading duo.

Emilio Fernández remains on course for a strong result in fourth – despite picking up a puncture on the opening stage of the day (SS8). Enrico Oldrati however was not so lucky, and forced to retire when he picked up a puncture and driveshaft issue on the same stage.

Callum Devine rolled on SS9, but the Irishman’s never-give-up attitude paid dividends as he completed the stage and currently holds fifth place overall.

Julius Tannert had been leading before rolling on SS10. Like Devine, the German was able to finish the stage and remained in third place until three punctures on the following speed test (SS11) spelled disaster – forcing the luckless German to retire for the day.

Torn had initially been caught in Tannert’s dust on SS10 which cost him valuable time to Bergkvist. The incident was looked into by the event Stewarts and Torn was given 30 seconds back.

Raul Badiu, Tom Williams and Bugra Banaz also picked up puctures on SS10. And there was further misfortune for Badiu with a driveshaft issue on SS12 and Williams with another puncture on SS13.

TOP-THREE DRIVER QUOTES

Ken Torn (1st) said:

“A clean run is not possible but that is rallying and it’s not over until it’s over.”

Emil Bergkvist (2nd) said:

“It has been a very tough day and we are very lucky to be here without any problems. We are now just driving to survive, but there are still four more stages to go and we are aiming for the finish line.”

Dennis Rådström (3rd) said:

“It has been a rough rally so far but we are still going strong and climbing the table. There is still a long way to go and we will not give up.”
