Großer Erfolg für Dempsey Proton Racing in China: Beim Sechsstundenrennen auf dem Shanghai International Raceway gewannen Christian Ried (Schönebürg), Matt Campbell (Australien) und Julien Andlauer (Frankreich) im Porsche 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 77 die Klasse GTE-Am.



 Im zweiten 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 88 belegten die Italiener Matteo Cairoli und Riccardo Pera zusammen mit Khaled Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi) den dritten Platz und komplettierten damit den erfolgreichen Jahresabschluss der Mannschaft aus dem schwäbischen Ummendorf.



Wegen heftiger Regenfälle musste das Rennen hinter dem Safety Car gestartet werden. Die 911 RSR von Dempsey Proton Racing kamen mit den widrigen Bedingungen auf der teilweise überfluteten Strecke am besten zurecht und feierten gegen die starke Konkurrenz von Aston Martin, Ferrari und Porsche einen tollen Teamerfolg. Der zweite Teil der Super-Saison 2018/2019 beginnt am 15. März in Sebring/USA.




Stimmen nach dem Rennen



Michael Ried, Teameigner und Technischer Direktor: „Das war heute eine tolle Teamleistung. Das Jahr mit einem Sieg abzuschließen, haben wir uns alle gewünscht. Dass uns das bei diesen extrem schwierigen Bedingungen gelungen ist, freut mich ganz besonders. Jetzt geht es in die verdiente Winterpause.“



Christian Ried (Porsche 911 RSR #77): „Dieses schwierige Rennen zu gewinnen, ist eine ganz besondere Genugtuung. Das Team hat uns mit einer perfekten Rennstrategie und tollen Boxenstopps unterstützt. Kompliment an meine Teamkollegen Matt und Julien. Sie waren zum ersten Mal auf dieser Strecke am Start und sind ein fantastisches Rennen gefahren.“




Matt Campbell (Porsche 911 RSR #77): „Das war eines der härtesten Rennen, das ich bisher gefahren bin. Das Auto bei diesen Wassermassen auf der Strecke zu halten, war nicht einfach. Doch unser 911 RSR war fantastisch. Für das ganze Team ist das ein perfekter Jahresabschluss.“



Julien Andlauer (Porsche 911 RSR #77): „Was für ein Rennen. Die Bedingungen waren sehr schwierig. Doch wir haben als Team keine Fehler gemacht und deshalb verdient gewonnen. Ich freue mich schon darauf, in Sebring in die zweite Saisonhälfte zu starten“



Matteo Cairoli (Porsche 911 RSR #88): „Das ist ein toller Erfolg für Dempsey Proton Racing. Glückwunsch an unsere Teamkollegen von der 77, sie haben verdient gewonnen. Ich freue mich über unseren dritten Platz. Gleich nach Fuji erneut aufs Podium gefahren zu sein, macht mich sehr zuversichtlich für den zweiten Saisonabschnitt.“



Riccardo Pera (Porsche 911 RSR #88): „Eine Podiumsplatzierung in meinem ersten Rennen mit Dempsey Proton Racing ist ein Einstand, mit dem ich sehr zufrieden bin. Die Arbeit mit dem Team hat trotz der schwierigen Bedingungen sehr viel Spaß gemacht.“



Khaled Al Qubaisi (Porsche 911 RSR #88): „Ein Podium in einem so schwierigen Rennen ist ein schöner Erfolg – vor allem, wenn deine Teamkollegen gewonnen haben.“

In der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC (World Endurance Championship) starten Sportprototypen und GT-Fahrzeuge in vier Klassen: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro und GTE-Am. Sie fahren gemeinsam in einem Rennen, werden aber getrennt gewertet. Dempsey Proton Racing tritt mit dem Porsche 911 RSR in der Klasse GTE-Am gegen starke Konkurrenten von Aston Martin, Ferrari und Porsche an.
