24h Dubai driver line-ups confirmed by Century Motorsport

07.12.2018: For the fourth year running, Century Motorsport will be heading to one of the most prestigious 24H Series events, held at the Dubai Autodrome in January 2019. The team have two enviable driver line-ups confirmed for the 24-hour race, in their beastly BMW

For the fourth year running, Century Motorsport will be heading to one of the most prestigious 24H Series events, held at the Dubai Autodrome in January 2019. The team have two enviable driver line-ups confirmed for the 24-hour race, in their beastly BMW M4 GT4s. Nathan Freke, Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke, Tom Canning and JM Littman, will share one car, bearing the race number #429. Jack Mitchell, Mark Farmer, Dominic Paul and Adrian Willmott make up the second quartet, in car #430.

Century Motorsport made their debut at the 24H Dubai in 2016, where they went on to claim their maiden victory in a Ginetta G55.

2017 saw the team return to the 5.39km track, fielding another Ginetta G55, achieving second in class at the finish line after qualifying in third.

Earlier this year, the team returned with a Ginetta G55 for the third year running. The team started off very well, qualifying on pole but then late into the night, an unforeseen engine failure caused the G55 to drop down the order. The entire team showed true grit and determination and within a couple of hours, a complete engine change had been completed, enabling the drivers to re-join the race. The G55 went on to cross the finish line fourth in class.

2018 has been Century Motorsport’s most successful year yet, with the team achieving a total of five championship titles. After a fantastic year in the British GT Championship with the brand new BMW M4 GT4s finishing in first and second, Century Motorsport decided that the BMW Motorsport built machines would be their car of choice for the upcoming race at the modern, 16-turn track.

Freke - Owner of Century Motorsport, BRDC member and 2006 Formula Ford Champion - returns to the Dubai Autodrome as a driver for the fourth year running.

Gordon-Colebrooke returns to the 24H Dubai for the third time, having previously entered in a Renault Clio and a Porsche Carrera Cup car. Gordon-Colebrooke finished in the top 10 this year in his Ginetta GT4 SuperCup debut with Century Motorsport.

Canning, 16, made history this year by becoming the youngest ever driver to enter the British GT Championship. He made the huge step up from the Ginetta Junior Championship, which he entered in 2017, where he finished 10th.

Littman, five-time husky racing champion before racing in motorsport, is certainly not a stranger to 24-hour races, having entered more than 10 in the last three years, with several podium results including a win.

Mitchell has had a very successful year and as well as becoming the British GT4 Champion with Century Motorsport in one of the BMWs, he also took the winner’s title in the China GT Championship. Mitchell raced in the 24H Dubai with Century Motorsport in 2017, with a podium finish of second in class.

Farmer, achieving third place in this year’s British GT3 Championship in an Aston Martin Vantage V12, joins Century Motorsport in the 24H Dubai for the second year running.

Paul also competed alongside Farmer in 2018 with Century Motorsport. Paul had a very successful year in 2017, becoming Class Champion in GT Cup (second overall), with a total of 14 class victories. This year, he made his debut in the LMP3 Cup Championship.

Willmott, 2002 Formula Palmer Audi Champion, has been taking part in historic racing for several years and will now make a welcomed return to modern GT racing.

The competition looks to be strong and there are several other BMW M4 GT4s already confirmed as entrants for the twice around the clock event which will take place on 11th January at 15:00 local time. The entire race can be viewed live on the 24H Series website and also on their YouTube channel.

Freke:
“It’s great to be heading out to Dubai with 2 cars and such strong driver line-ups. Making the switch to BMW this year has proven a very successful decision. The aim is to carry the momentum into 2019 and Dubai is no better place to start it!”
