Erik Jones, driver of the No. 20 Sport Clips Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series

In the weeks leading up to the prestigious season-opening DAYTONA 500 Sunday, Feb. 17, the stars of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be visiting cities throughout the United States to promote “The Great American Race” with the Road to the DAYTONA 500 Tour. The cross-country media blitz includes Jones’ visit to Jacksonville.

Jones will meet Rear Admiral Sean S. Buck, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command, U.S. 4th Fleet, and distinguished Sailors at Naval Station Mayport. In addition, he will tour the guided-missile destroyer USS Thomas Hudner (DDG 116) and preview the upcoming DAYTONA 500.

•         Jones captured his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory and earned a spot in NASCAR’s Playoffs in last July’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

•         The 22-year-old Jones is entering his third full season in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driving the No. 20 Sport Clips Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. In 2018, Jones finished 15th in the championship standings with nine top fives and 18 top-10 finishes.

•         In 2017, Jones drove in his first full Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season behind the wheel of the No. 77 Toyota Camry for Furniture Row Racing where he finished 19th in the championship standings and earned Rookie of the Year honors, making him the first driver to be named Rookie of the Year in all three national touring series.

•         Jones made his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2015 at Kansas Speedway filling in for the injured Kyle Busch. He finished fourth in the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings with four victories and earned Rookie of the Year.

•         In 2015, Jones became the youngest NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series champion at 19 years, five months and 21 days while also collecting Rookie of the Year honors. He finished the season with three wins, five poles, 11 top-five finishes and 20 top-10 finishes.

•         At 17 years, five months and nine days old, Jones became the youngest winner, at the time, in the history of the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series at ISM Raceway in Phoenix (Ariz.) in 2013.
