Fresh from securing pole position for both races at Donington Park, Fabrice Walfisch (Team Lompech Sport) has repeated the feat at Magny-Cours. The Frenchman will share the front row with Carlo van Dam (Racing for Belgium) in race 1 and Dimitri Enjalbert (Tech 1 Racing) in race 2.
Sticking to the strategy that served him so well at Donington Park, Fabrice Walfisch was out on track in the first session. The Team Lompech Sport driver led for ten minutes of the fifteen-minute session. Dimitri Enjalbert (Tech 1 Racing), Greg Franchi (Equipe Verschuur), Carlo van Dam (Racing for Belgium), Maxime Martin (Boutsen Energy Racing) and Ralph Meichtry (Race Performance) were also in fine form.
Three minutes from the end, Wim Beelem (Equipe Verschuur) went into a spin, but he did not hinder the other drivers and the session was able to continue uninterrupted.
With just a minute remaining, Walfisch ensured that he kept his lead with a lap timed at 1'45''078. He was followed by Carlo van Dam, Maxime Martin, Michaël Rossi (Racing for Belgium), Dimitri Enjalbert, Matthieu Lahaye (Tech 1 Racing), Greg Franchi, Mike Verschuur (Equipe Verschuur), Pedro Petiz (Tech 1 Racing) and Ralph Meichtry.
The standings changed very little at the beginning of the second session. Petiz managed to take ninth place from Verschuur. Six minutes from the end, Walfisch stopped off at the pits before setting off for one last run.
At last, the times came thick and fast. Enjalbert was the first to fire, clocking the third-best time of the day. Petiz also improved to take sixth position from his friend and teammate Lahaye. Ludovic Badey (TDS), meanwhile, climbed into the top ten. The man from Lyons continued to push and sneaked in between Van Dam and Enjalbert with less than two minutes remaining!
Walfisch and Van Dam took their leave before the chequered flag. Maxime Martin, meanwhile, improved on his best time at his final attempt, but remained in fifth place behind Walfisch, Van Dam, Badey and Enjalbert. Rossi, Petiz, Lahaye, Franchi and Verschuur complete the top 10 on the grid for race 1.
For race 2, things will be noticeably different. Walfisch will again start from pole position, but he will be joined on the front row by Dimitri Enjalbert, with Van Dam, Petiz, Martin, Badey, Rossi, Lahaye, Franchi and Verschuur behind them.
