B-Quik hunts success as Blancpain GT Asia arrives in Buriram

B-Quik Racing Co. Ltd. TM (“B-Quik Racing”) heads for Buriram’s Chang International Circuit this weekend to contest the second round of Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia in upbeat mood after the most successful start to a racing season in our decade long history.

‘Season 2019’ is the eleventh year of B-Quik Racing – and to kick off our ‘second decade’ on the racetracks we have enacted our biggest step upwards to date, acquiring our first brand new frontline car – a MY2019 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo – and embarking on an ambitious programme that, alongside our primary challenge in Thailand Super Series (TSS) Super Car GT3, is also seeing us contest the opening two rounds of Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia.

Henk Kiks and Daniel Bilski, the driving forces behind so much of our past success, are reunited to in the new #26 car after spending most of last season driving two different B-Quik entries in Super Car GT3.

That hard work and huge commitment has really paid off so far and during the opening round of Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, held at Sepang Circuit almost exactly a month ago, we came away with a debut win in GT AM – more than exceeding our expectations in what is Asia’s most competitive ‘GT’ championship.

Henk and Daniel followed that sensational win up two weeks later during the first round of TSS 2019, also held at Sepang, with an overall victory – and after grabbing third place in the other race of the ‘double header’ it was two trips to the podium out of two.

It really was a perfect start to the TSS season as we returned from Malaysia with Henk and Daniel at top of the Drivers’ championship standings while B-Quik Racing sits at the summit of the Team’s classification.

Add the two events together and its three consecutive podium trips for the year plus two wins (Overall in TSS and GT AM in Blancpain GT).

Now, after those two race weekends at Sepang Circuit, the team will be competing this coming weekend on our “home turf” for the first time in 2019.

This weekend we're clearly targeting turning those three consecutive podiums for the #26 Audi into five – but we’re well aware just how high the level of the competition is going to be. We have our feet on the ground, will work our socks off and with Henk and Daniel as well as the crew giving everything we will chase another result.

Daniel in fact comes into the weekend with an extra spring in his step as just last weekend he contested the second round of the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup, held at Zhuhai International Circuit, and he turned in a barnstorming weekend with the highlight being a P2 finish in Race 1. The Australian also contested the opening round of the ‘one make’ series at the Adelaide Street Circuit back in March and so after two rounds and four races he’s sitting in an impressive second place in the overall Drivers’ standings. It’s really been some month for B-Quik Racing! That trip to China has also given Daniel additional seat time in the new “Evo” so he’s ready to get back behind the wheel in Buriram.

The highlight of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia coming weekend will be the two 1-hour races; they take place this Saturday (11 May) and Sunday (12 May) and start at 1530 and 1145 respectively. Before the lights turn green though there are three practice sessions (two on Friday and the third on Saturday) while on Saturday lunchtime, in between the third practice session and Race 1, will come Qualifying, with Q1 to decide the grid for Race 1, scheduled to start at 1205, while Q2, to sort out the starting order for Race 2, will immediately follow at 1224. Both qualifying sessions are 15 minutes long.

B-Quik Racing is supported by B-Quik, Michelin, Mobil 1, Bendix, Yuasa, NGK, Liqui Moly, STI and WAC Car Detailing.

Henk Kiks:
“We’ve had a great start to the year and I think all the effort we made over winter to push to the next level, invest in a new R8 ‘Evo’ and raise our game in all operational areas of the team has really paid off already – to start a season in this way is a great reward for everyone. But the level of competition in Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia is really off the scale, the teams are some of the most professional from around the world and there are no weak links in the driver line ups, so we have to be at our best and have to improve our game and keep improving it.

We looked at the first two rounds of Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia as being a learning curve for us and that really is the case, you learn so much when you’re in the deep end! But this is the best possible place for us and we will be digging in to grind out a result this weekend, even more motivated as this is our ‘local’ race!”

Daniel Bilski: “
It’s a big week coming up! Our second time in Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, this time on home turf in Buriram. We’ve had a great run of results so far in the year, but we’re taking nothing for granted. It’s going to be incredible tough competition.

I was fortunate to race with my ‘other family’ in the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup this past weekend, gaining some good results. I learned more about driving the R8 LMS GT3 Evo, and I’m looking forward to putting that to good use this week in Buriram! I can’t wait to team up with Henk, B-Quik Racing and our good friends at Absolute Racing and Audi Sport Customer Racing Asia for a big week ahead.”
