In a rainy weekend, Marco Pellegrini and Matteo Greco claimed their maiden TCR Italy wins at Misano.

Drama in Race 1 began when Jacopo Guidetti’s Audi stalled at the start with a broken driveshaft, which prompted the safety car in. As soon as racing resumed, Massimiliano Mugelli was sent into a spin by Greco who was given a drive-through penalty. Enrico Bettera was leading from Eric Scalvini, Salvatore Tavano and Pellegrini.

After another safety car period to recover Andrea Argenti's Opel Astra, Tavano snatched the lead from Bettera who also lost second to Pellegrini. During the final part of the race, Tavano’s CUPRA retired with a technical issue, leaving Pellegrini and Bettera fighting for victory. Eventually the former won ahead of Bettera, with Scalvini in third position.

At the start of Race 2, Tavano took the lead from Felix Wimmer, Greco and Mugelli. During the opening lap, Igor Stefanovski crashed and the safety car was deployed. At the restart, Tavano retired again with a technical issue and so Mugelli inherited the lead, but behind him Greco and Scalvini overtook Wimmer and closed the gap.

Greco managed to take the lead from Mugelli during the penultimate lap and then the latter lost second to Scalvini at the last turn. Bettera salvaged a fifth place that helped him to retain the lead in the standings, two points over Pellegrini and five ahead of Greco.

The next event of TCR Italy will be at Imola on 22/23 June.
