A second title in four years for Street-Art Racing

Already champion in the GT4 European Series Am Cup in 2016 with Jérôme Demay, the Street-Art Racing team won a second title this weekend. After a weekend of ups and downs at the Nürburgring, the young Luxembourg driver Clément Seyler and the Swiss driver Pascal Bachmann won the Am Cup at the end of this 2019 campaign.

“That was our goal at the beginning of the weekend and we achieved it," said Albert Bloem, Team Principal of Street-Art Racing on Sunday. "Although this last meeting gave us a few tricky moments, we are proud to win this Am Cup again, three years after Jérôme Demay's title in 2016."

On Saturday, at the end of the first race, Clément Seyler and Pascal Bachmann had a taste of too little after their second place in the category. A problem with their Aston Martin Vantage GT4 overheating in temperatures near to 30°C had prevented them from fighting for victory. But the points scored for second place allowed them to take a very large step towards the title.
“Just being ranked in the second race was enough for us," explained Clément, who was competing in his first full season in motor sport the year he turned 20. "But there was a great deal of stress. While I started from pole position in my class, I was a little distracted after a few laps in the race and made a mistake.

Fortunately, it had no major consequence. Pascal was able to finish the race and we were finally champions. I am very proud of my first season and also very proud to wear the colours of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on international podiums. Thank you to the team and all those who made this possible!”

Close by, the more experienced Pascal Bachmann shared his emotions. “When the team told me earlier this year that the Am Cup title should be our goal, I thought they were crazy,” laughed the Swiss driver. “But we have seen over the races that such a target was not as unrealistic as I thought.

Clément and I really made a very good pairing. The atmosphere was fantastic between us and we helped each other a great deal. Of course we were somewhat disappointed to finish sixth in the Am Cup on Sunday, but the main thing was the title. I am very happy with the result for this season and I would like to thank the team. I hope we can continue the adventure together next year.”

Although the Aston Martin Vantage #17 brought the expected satisfaction, the #007 Silver Cup entry driven by Frenchman Julien Darras and Belgian Jamie Vandenbalck did not have the same success. The 13thand 11thplaces in the Silver Cup did not meet expectations, as overheating problems slowed the beautiful English car’s progress.

“This was the first season for the new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and we sometimes had teething troubles,” explains Damien Hellebuyck, Team Manager. “In general, we suffered too many technical problems for which we had little to blame ourselves. But if we look at the positives, we can say that the team has grown a lot in the face of adversity. Our guys have learned a lot and made great progress.

They stuck together when things were difficult, and the team has matured a great deal. I am proud of them and this Am Cup title is a great reward. We will enjoy it for a few days, and then we will start thinking about the 2020 season and the direction in which we want to take Street-Art Racing next year. This is not the last you will hear about us!”
