CUPRA Racing unveiled the new TCR and ETCR racing cars

26.02.2020: CUPRA has unveiled the final versions of the CUPRA e-Racer ETCR and the new CUPRA León Competición TCR racing cars. The e-Racer, a 100% electric Touring Car, has been developed by the Spanish manufacturer in compliance with the ETCR technical regulations

CUPRA has unveiled the final versions of the CUPRA e-Racer ETCR and the new CUPRA León Competición TCR racing cars.

The e-Racer, a 100% electric Touring Car, has been developed by the Spanish manufacturer in compliance with the ETCR technical regulations.

It provides a combined 680bHp or 500kW of peak power and 960Nm of torque from its single-speed four electric motors and a liquid cooled 65kWh battery pack. Aerodynamics, performance and design have sculpted the shape of the CUPRA e-Racer, starting with its lower and wider stance, carrying over the road car side air curtains and introducing an innovative bumper and bonnet air flow circulation.

The León Competición TCR has been engineered to be competitive in all the TCR series around the world, in both sprint and endurance races. Based on the new CUPRA León, the racing car incorporates revised bodywork that offers significant aerodynamic efficiency improvements. A full kinematic geometry in both axels that use lightweight components improves the weight distribution.

“CUPRA has always had a pioneering role in motorsport and with the CUPRA León Competición and the CUPRA e-Racer we are continuing to break new ground. Both vehicles have been designed to compete at the highest level and bring a competitive edge to the teams tha will be running them. They have been developed specifically to meet TCR and ETCR technical regulations and requirements,” said CUPRA Racing director Jaime Puig.
