In keeping with its status as a major event, here are some interesting and impressive facts and figures about the 9th rally in the 2007 WRC calendar:
Current WRC front-runner Marcus Grönholm (66 points) has built a 10 point lead on his pursuer Sébastien Loeb (56 points). Mirkko Hirvonen is third with 49 points.
The ADAC Rallye Deutschland magazine has 100 pages. It is available for €5.00 at newsstands and petrol stations or can be ordered on-line at www.rallye-deutschland.de. It features a story on Sébastien Loeb and a wealth of information about the 2007 WRC and its drivers as well as maps for the spectators.
The Rally Office has received 108 entries. 27 of the teams registered are eligible for German championship points.
A total of 146 special stages have been run in the first 8 WRC rallies of 2007. Sébastien Loeb set 57 fastest stage times, Marcus Grönholm has 36 and Mirkko Hirvonen (Ford) has 16.
The ADAC Rallye Deutschland 2007 covers a total of 1227km. The challenging 19 special stages include 358 competitive kilometres.
The "Porta Nigra" (Black Gate) is 1800 years old. It is the emblem of the city of Trier and will be the backdrop for Start and Finish as well as the "Circus Maximus" Super Special.
The world motor sport governing body FIA introduced the world rally championship in 1979. Two multiple WRC Champions will start in Trier. One is Ford pilot Marcus Grönholm (2000 and 2002), the other Citroën driver Sébastien Loeb (2004-2006).
The Trier "Messepark" fairgrounds where the rally Service Park will be installed boasts 21,920m2 of outdoor area.
The organisers expect some 250,000 spectators, of which 40% will come from abroad, (especially from the Benelux countries and France).
According to a study conducted by the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences, the ADAC Rallye Deutschland will generate €20,000,000 in additional business in the Trier region.
