The Rallye du Maroc is very proud to be associated, since the 2019 edition, with 3 groups that are among the most important in the country and leaders in their respective markets: OCP Group, world leader in phosphate fertilizers, AFRIQUIA, major national operator in fuel distribution in Morocco and the MAROC TELECOM group, the leading national telecom operator with a presence in 11 countries on the African continent.

These 3 giants of the Moroccan economy and ODC (Organisation David Castera), the rally organiser since the 2018 edition, are united around common values and share the same ambition for the future of the rally. A dynamic involvement that is beneficial to the rally at all levels.

Increasing the event's reputation among the general public

The Rallye du Maroc is a worldwide reference in the discipline. It is part of the FIA World Cup and FIM Cross-Country Rally World Championship and brings together all the categories of the discipline: motorbikes, quads, SSVs, trucks and cars.

With a top-flight organisation and innovation, orchestrated by David Castera, the Rallye du Maroc is popular with the top teams, attracting competitors entered on the legendary Dakar, as well as large number of ‘amateurs’. The 2021 edition, with a record number of 260 vehicles, including 100 cars and 160 motorbikes, is proof of the events appeal.

Thanks to a winning combination of key factors, the Rallye du Maroc benefits from an established worldwide reputation within the motorsport’s community.

Now and in the future, the aim is to capture the hearts of a wider audience, while retaining the loyalty of its fanbase, to make the Rallye du Maroc a popular event in the host country and beyond.

The excellent management of the health crisis by the Moroccan authorities has already enabled the 2021 edition to take place while respecting the protocol essential to the protection of the Moroccan population, with a caravan of more than 30 different nationalities and more than 850 people, as well all those involved in the event.

As the initial plan for this edition to incorporate festive events involving the general Moroccan public was not possible, the partners and the organisation have found alternative solutions to share the Rallye du Maroc with as many people as possible.

The specific actions implemented will be revealed in the coming days. The rally’s social networks and those of its partners already contain some clues.

Revealing Moroccan talent

The positive values conveyed by sport, such as the notion of effort, surpassing oneself, and the resulting gain in self-confidence, bring benefits to society. This is, among others, the sense behind initiatives carried out by the OCP Group with basketball and the NBA in Morocco and on the African continent.

The growing popularity of the Rallye du Maroc has encouraged participation at a national level. Here again, all the partners and ODC have a common objective: to encourage local talent by accompanying them in their progress and enabling them to realise their dream.

For this 2021 edition, 9 Moroccans are entered, 7 drivers and 2 co-drivers: 4 in the motorcycle class, 1 on quads, 1 in an SSV (side by side vehicle) and 2 in cars - a record participation for the host country.

Harite GABARI - Number 133
Aoulad Ali MOHAMEDSAID - Number 151
Ali OUKERBOUCH - Number 206.

Enduro Cup AFRIQUIA class, the rally-raid entry category for motorcycles / quads :

Amine ECHIGUER - Number 274

Mustapha ARRAHMANI - Number 700

In the Open SSV MAROC TELECOM category, the entry category for rally-raid cars :

• Firdaouss Al Fannane co-driver (Delmas Benoît FRA driver) number 659 - Team Désert et Partage

In the Open Auto category, the most accessible car category:

• - Souad Mouktadiri (co-driver Frédéric Villers FRA) - Number 606 - Team Mouktadiri
• - Rachid Hamsas (co-driver Kacem Hamsas) - Number 607 -Team Hamsas

The Moroccan competitors will be in training on Thursday 7 October with rally-raid expert Cyril Despres, five-times winner of the Dakar in the motorcycle category and 3rd in the 2017 Dakar in the car category, in order to start the rally with the right attitude and with the benefit of valuable advice.

Making the Rallye du Maroc a model of sustainable development

CSR is a major issue for the three Moroccan groups, as it is for the Rallye du Maroc.

The rally makes it a point of honour to promote Moroccan know-how and its extraordinary capacity to adapt, as David Castera has underlined in previous communication. Indeed, a whole economic fabric is involved in the construction of the event and in particular the bivouac, with the indispensable support of the authorities and partners without whom the Rallye du Maroc could not take place.

The Rallye du Maroc must be a legitimate and sincere "ambassador" of this economic dynamic that the country can promote to an international audience, through the prism of the event, the numerous attractions of the kingdom: its magnificent scenery, its culture, its gastronomy and its legendary hospitality.

The route of a rally-raid inevitably takes in the most remote areas, with very low population density, like a mirage in a landscape of eternity. ODC's aim has been to carry out actions that will have a lasting benefit for the people living permanently in these territories where the event is only a one-off guest, modestly, in its own way and always in accord with the local authorities.

The involvement of the main partners allows for the development of new initiatives while ensuring the continuity of the actions carried out since previous editions.

For the 2021 edition, a medical caravan created in coordination with the hospital in Zagora, will set off on a 6-day tour and will make 3 stages of 2 days in the most remote villages of the 2021 rally area.

The Rally must also preserve the natural setting in which it takes place and ensure that its environmental impact is as limited as possible.

In close collaboration with the main partners, the event is developing new initiatives with, as a priority for 2021, collection and recycling of all waste generated by the rally caravan and the energy transition of the bivouac powered by green electricity.

We invite you to visit our social networks to discover, throughout the week of competition, the actions undertaken and made possible thanks to the dynamic involvement of OCP Group, AFRIQUIA and MAROC TELECOM.
