During the coming four weeks the Belgian Corvette-team will be successively travelling to Lédenon, Silverstone, Dijon and Bucharest. The team recently announced that the Belgian Tom Cloet and the Finn Pertti will be on duty in England and most probably we will also come across this same duo for the Rumanian FIA-GT premiere.
But prior to broaching the Citation Cup, Patrick Selleslagh’s team will be setting up camp at Lédenon in southern France, and this for the French GT-championship, FFSA-GT for short. After some successful testing last week in Dijon, Eric Cayrolle and Laurent Cazenave are targeting a first podium place. Last season SRT clinched a podium place here at the circuit that is situated between Nîmes and Avignon.
"The circuit should suit us, but I’m still not 100% sure about the tyre question. During the two test session days at Dijon, Pirelli supplied us with good rubbers and everything ran smoothly, but I will only be fully certain once I actually have the tyres for Lédenon in my possession. In Nogaro the tyres were too soft and I truly hope that we won’t be required to use that same type of tyre again", Patrick Selleslagh commented. Eric Cayrolle was very pleased after Dijon and is in full agreement with Patrick Selleslagh.
"Anyhow we need to remain in contact with the top players and produce a good score at Lédenon", Patrick Selleslagh continued. "Even though the championship is still young we need to come up with a strong result. In a fortnight’s time we need to breakthrough in Dijon, because after that the French saga will be idle for almost two months."
Tom Cloet was also present in Dijon. The driver from west Flanders is really looking forward to Silverstone: "It was a real pleasure to drive a powerful GT1", Tom explained.
"Unlike the 24 Hours of Zolder where the SRT team was aiming for all out victory and there were strict team orders, I was able to drive in a more relaxed manner here at Dijon and to learn a great deal. My feeling after the test was positive and I’m convinced that with SRT we can produce an excellent result in Silverstone. The Tourist Trophy is a meeting with charisma and I’m determined to finish the race up front."
