Harold Primat eagerly anticipating Monza and Pescarolo sport debuts

Geneva-based racing driver Harold Primat heads for a double-debut this weekend; his first race for double Le Mans Series champions Pescarolo Sport and his first outing at the world-famous Monza circuit in Italy.

The 31-year old will partner Frenchman Christophe Tinseau in the team’s second Pescarolo-Judd and cannot wait to step into the car as he anticipates the most important season of his motorsport career.

Primat said: "I’m looking forward to it and feel that 2007 will prove to be a very competitive year in the Le Mans Series given the quality of the field. Obviously to gain podiums and victories will be more difficult than last year but Pescarolo Sport is the right place to achieve them.

"The team’s knowledge of their car and sportscar racing in general makes us a strong package. The number one priority is reliability, but on track it’s up to me and Christophe to focus on what we’re doing and not look too much at the opposition. There will be times when they are stronger but if we keep our heads down and work hard then we should get good results."

As well as competing for a new team, Primat’s debut brings with it a new challenge in the shape of the challenging 5.8km Monza circuit. Harold has never raced at the famous track before but isn’t overly concerned at his lack of experience at the Italian venue.

He said: "It’s true that I have never driven at Monza before but it shouldn’t be a problem because I usually learn tracks quickly and so it won’t take me long to get up to speed. However 2007 is going to be a new level, with Christophe, Pescarolo Sport and I determined to fight with the Peugeot Sport cars. Whilst I lack a little bit of experience in certain areas it’s something I’m picking up and hopefully we can turn that into some good results."

Team Boss Henri Pescarolo said: "By joining Pescarolo Sport, two times Le Mans Series champion in 2005 and 2006, Harold Primat crosses a new step in his sporting career. Monza will be a baptism of fire for Harold, but he will be able to count on a highly reliable car, a very fast team mate and a top team to be able to express his talent. Pescarolo Sport counts on him!"

The 1000kms of Monza takes place on Sunday 15 April, at 1pm local time, with the race being screened live in its entirety on Motors TV.
