Jürgen Bender berichtet. „Ich fühle mich wie in den Startlöchern". Am 08. Januar geht’s los. Der Flug Frankfurt-Dubai gibt Wallenborn/Bender/Dechent noch mal Zeit sich mental auf die zweiten 24h des Teams in Dubai vorzubereiten.
Am 12.01.07 dann der Start in Dubai. Schon 2006 gingen die Crew Bender, Dechent, Nielsen (DK) dort auf einem Porsche GT3 dort an den Start. „Dubai verlangt einem körperlich aber wirklich alles ab", so der Unterländer Reifeningenieur nachdenklich. Die 3 Fahrer aus Neckarsulm, Karlsruhe und Kopenhagen führten das Rennen in der Wüste zeitenweise sogar vor Stuck und Quester an. Platz 4 am Ende war ein absolutes Superresultat.
2007 wollen die 3 an dieses Ergebnis anknüpfen. Werden die Benderjungs wieder Führungsrunden in den Asphalt von Dubai krallen können? „Wir werden es versuchen", lächelt Bender im Interview. Der Porsche-GT3 ist bereits in Dubai. Per Container ging das gute Stück Ende November von Antwerpen in die Golfregion. Die Männer um Renningenieur Marco Bayer sind für den „heißen Einsatz" in der Wüste gerüstet.
10 Satz Reifen sind für die Schlacht am Golf geordert. Ersatzteile, Rennbenzin Werkzeuge, alles ist vor Ort. „Die Hitze dort frisst besonders die Gummis förmlich von den Felgen", so Bender. Reifen, das ist sein Metier. Da kennt sich der Neckarsulmer Diplomingenieuer aus wie kaum ein Zweiter.
Die 24h von Dubai scheinen Kult zu werden. Die neue Rennsaison dort zu beginnen hat was ganz Besonderes für jeden Racer.
Der „3. Mann" im Team steht seit 3 Stunden auch fest. Nein, der 3. Mann ist kein Wiener, es ist der Divinol-EM-Trophy- und Rhinos-GT-Champion von 2006 Robert „Waly" Wallenborn aus der „Schumistadt" Kerpen. Ob Lars Nielsen aus Kopenhagen ebenfalls mit von der Party sein wird ist unsicher. Auch V8Star-Pilot Klaus Hackl hat angefragt. Überraschungen als noch inbegriffen.
Sogar der Ex-DTM-Champion Kurt Thiim (DK) hatte Interesse, und der Däne hätte dem Team genützt. Aber Thiim sitzt bereits in einem anderen Team.
„Angst vor Profis wie Quester, Stuck oder Alzen haben wir keine", lachte Bender.
Denn angerichtet ist es ja offensichtlich perfekt bei den Porsche-Jungs.
Bei der zweiten Ausgabe der 24. Stunden von Dubai werden Robert Wallenborn (Kerpen), Jürgen Bender (Neckarsulm) und Martin Dechent (Karlsruhe) ein Porsche-Trio bilden.

On January 11-12-13th history will see the first 24h race in the middle-east. On a brand new circuit of the Dubai Autodrome the race will start on Thursday 12th at 14.00h. Besides the mainly European teams we will have some competitors from the Arabian Peninsula as well.
