Chevrolet to enter the Danish Touringcar Championship
The American brand reveals a three-year plan for the tin tops series
Kent Bo Steffensen of Sport A Racing is happy to have signed a three-year deal with Chevrolet for the Danish Touringcar Championship.
After rumours have been circulating for several months it is now a reality. Chevrolet will next year be entered the Danish Touringcar Championship in a multi-year plan with several cars in the field. Behind the American brand’s debut are the two present DTC teams, Sport A Racing and Klostermann Racing.
"We will be creating a new team where we are joining all our efforts and means and will go for it," Kent Bo Steffensen of Sport A Racing says. "Michael will keep his Klostermann Racing, and I will keep my Sport A Racing, and then we will create a common operation called Chevrolet Motorsport Danmark for the next three years."
Especially for Kent Bo Steffensen it has been a relief to get so far that he can now announce his three-year Chevrolet plan.
"I have been working with Chevrolet since the end of May, where I had the first contact with their managing director, Brian Groth, and from there the mail correspondence just started," Kent Bo Steffensen says.
"There were several teams who contacted them, and they ended up choosing us and we have got a three-year deal. With that we will be able to concentrate properly on the job ahead, which we really haven’t been able to do previously, we often haven been in situations that we haven been able to fix our programme until February or March."
While Michael Klostermann will be concentrating on the commercial part of the partnership, Kent Bo Steffensen will be handling the operation bit. The will happen out of Sport A Racing’s present plant in Grindløse at Funen. But how many cars the workship will have, is still unknown.
"If you had asked me a week ago, I would have said 1-2 cars. Now I am saying 1-3, but I do actually believe in three, but it is difficult in this kind of business," Kent Bo Steffensen says.
"So far we have requested two cars, but as things have developed we are now looking a may also field a car in the privateer class. But there wonøt be any difference between the privateer car and the professional cars. Actually we haven’t been hunting drivers yet, but a total of seven drivers have asked so far – both professionals and privateers – so that is a quite wide spectrum."

The ninth and the last round of the STCC Championship took place at Mantorp Park.

Jan Magnussen retook the series lead in the Danish Touringcar Championship, when he won his fourth final race win – a new record for the series – at a soaking wet Ring Djursland. As rival Casper Elgaard had only managed second place in the pre-final, the lead of the series swopped hands.

Beim 2. Rennen zur dänischen DTC- Meisterschaft mit 27 Rennwagen am Start, konnte das BMW Klostermann Team, mit Kurt Thiim als Piloten, große Fortschritte erzielen.
