Second place in Brno for the Phoenix Racing Aston Martin DBR9 of Jean-Denis Deletraz and Andrea Piccini showed just how quickly the team has come up to speed. With announcement that they will be joined by Swiss driver Marcel Fässler for Spa, the team has high hopes for the next race in Oschersleben.
" Now we know the car very well, and we have made up for the delays occurred by getting the car so late in the year," Jean-Denis Deletraz explained. " After second place in Brno, we can only aim for victory - especially as the GT Bureau has reacted by reducing the rear wing of the Saleen, which, in my view, was the right decision.
Oschersleben is a very different circuit to Brno, it’s shorter, and you are accelerating and braking all the time. I think it should suit the Aston, while Brno was perfect for the Saleen. " Deletraz is very pleased with the team’s latest news. "It is very good news that Marcel Fässler will be driving with us at Spa. He’s a true professional, and one of the top European racing drivers. It shows how committed Phoenix is to our Championship fight, as I know how many drivers have been ringing up, looking to buy a seat in the Aston Martin. I know Marcel well - at the start of his career, I was involved with finding sponsors for him through the company Swiss Dreams. It is fantastic, and a real honour, to have the opportunity to drive with him."
As for Andrea Piccini, he claimed a podium finish for his very first visit to Le Mans, driving for the Aston Martin Racing factory team. " Andrea put in an excellent performance at Le Mans. It gave him an opportunity to put in plenty of kilometres with the car, as well as getting to know the factory team, work with the engineers," Deletraz commented. " We’re ready for Oschersleben - our teeth are sharp and we’re ready to bite !"
